Can somebody help me interpret this urinalysis below ? I just want to know what is the probability that these results could indicate a chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis infection.
ketones Trace
Occult blood 1+
leukocyte esterase trace
WBC none seen
RBC 3-10
Bacteria None seen
She is going for a follow up appointment with her doctor next week but any help understanding the results would be greatly appreciated.
Greetings.
Urinanalysis is never used to diagnose STI. It's results do not suggest you have any kind of STI, but they don't exclude such possibility. If you suspect you mat have STI, you need to undergo specific tests.
thanks for your response, just to give you a quick brackground on the issue ...i got a little bit worried because i had some recent unprotected oral sex exposures so even though i have no symptoms i tested a few days ago for gono and chlamydia (naat test) and both came back negative but my wife has been experiencing some pelvic discomfort recently on and off so she just got results back from a regular urinalysis so i was wondering if her ocult blood and leukocyte esterase could be std related. We both are Herpes positive so i m not sure if Herpes could be the culprit on her urinalysis findings and symptoms.
It is unreasonable to take guesses here. RBC is probably from occult blood and is unrelated to any disease. I don't see any abnormal "findings" which may lead to think STI.
I am not sure herpes is related either.
If you took NAAT test from urethra swab, it is quite reliable. Syphilis test is not necessary unless you find skin lesions on your penis.
