Untreated Oral Gonorrhea/Chlamydia for years?

Hi,

I need a bit of help. I'm male, 29 based in UK. In the past 4 years I've been seeing female escorts fairly frequently. I've always tested negative for all STDs in blood and urine. However I wasn't really aware of oral STDs (I am now ashamed to admit). With most women I performed unprotected Cunnilingus. Most of my exposures we over 2 years ago as I stopped seeing escorts in Covid (I've seen a couple this year but thats it).

Once learning about Oral Gonorrhea in particular I'm actually petrified that I might have something - particularly a case of Pharyngeal Gonorrhea which has spread to Disseminated Gonnoccal Infection (DGI). I've never had any out of the ordinary symptoms and have always felt healthy, except for some prostate symptoms occasionally which sometimes follow a sexual exposure but always clear up (and all urine test clear). But this has often occurred when I am stressing about using escorts and I've read this can be brought on by anxiety.

I've scoured the Web and this forum page upon page. I just would like some help on the following:

1) Is it true Cunnilingus is extremely rare for a man to contract throat Gonorrhea?
2) Is is true that Cunnilingus is even rarer to spread Oral Chlamydia?
3) is it possible that a oral gonorrhea could move from my throat to my prostate?
4) I've read that it's believed nearly all Pharyngeal Gonorrhea cases will clear untreated without any issues given time - true?
5) How obvious are DGI symptoms - I'm scared an infection might have spread silently.
6) If DGI was untreated would it continue to get worse? Like would I be really ill?

Thank you in advance.

This is really a lot of worry for nothing.

1) Is it true Cunnilingus is extremely rare for a man to contract throat Gonorrhea?

Yes.

2) Is is true that Cunnilingus is even rarer to spread Oral Chlamydia?

Yes.

3) is it possible that a oral gonorrhea could move from my throat to my prostate?

Absolutely not. There is no pathway from the throat to the prostate.

4) I've read that it's believed nearly all Pharyngeal Gonorrhea cases will clear untreated without any issues given time - true?

Yes, this is true. We would never advise someone who thinks they have an oral STD to just wait for it to clear, but yes, this is true.

5) How obvious are DGI symptoms - I'm scared an infection might have spread silently.

It is obvious. This happens when the gonorrhea bacteria enters the bloodstream. You'd likely have arthritis-like pain, sores on your body, stiffness in your joints, a rash, or a combo of those symptoms.

6) If DGI was untreated would it continue to get worse? Like would I be really ill?

Yes. You would have sought treatment by now.

According to the CDC, DGI is uncommon and thought to occur in 0.5-3% of untreated gonorrhea cases.

If you are so concerned, get tested. Ask your doctor for throat swabs. Then let it go. You will be negative, I'm sure.

Also, maybe talk to your doctor about your anxiety. Your reaction to this is out of proportion to the risk level, by far.

Thank you for the information, it's really useful. Sorry to come across anxious.

So in theory, if I did catch Oral Gonorrhea from any of the exposures pre Covid (so between 2.5 and 4 years ago) I would expect to have cleared it without knowing?

So there is no way that an oral gonnoreah infection could last years?

And yes I have tested via throat swab, I'm now waiting results which is a bit of a nervy waiting game.
Like AJ Said - really no need to worry!

As you live in the UK, testing is free and I can see that you have started that process. Try to relax :)
"I would expect to have cleared it without knowing?

Yes, you would expect to have cleared it without knowing IF you had it. After all this time, if you had it, you'd have known it.

We talk a lot about STDs being silent infections and such, and that can happen, mostly in women, and mostly in the genital tract. I've never seen or heard of someone going years with an undetected oral gonorrhea or chlamydia infection.
