Chlamydia please help

Hi, I have a problem.  Im in Argentina and have just found out I have Chlamydia I was told to take some antibiotics for 10 days but still had the problem, I went to another doc and he said take 2 x VIBRAMICINA 100mg once per day for 14 days. Im on my 9th day and still have signs of problem and Im worried its not going to cure it. I just want it gone.

I read on this site it can be easily treated and cured with antibiotics, which may be administered in a single dose or taken over the course of a week.  I should be able to buy Azithromycin over the counter here.  Is that the right stuff to use and can you tell me the dosage please, or let me know the right antibiotic to buy..

Please help..
Cheers

You can take the drugs at the same time.  Trichomonas is a minor parasitic infection; you can search for information on many reliable STD websites, like www.cdc.gov/std or www.ashastd.org.

See a doctor and follow his or her advice about treatment and doses.  I will not help people treat themselves.

That has to end this thread.  You may not keep returning with every question that comes to mind; that's what personal doctors are for.  Good luck.

Si, lo entiendo.  That test result is reliable.  You were infected with chlamydia.

The dose of doxycycline (Vibrimicina) is appropriate.  In the US, we normally use 100 mg twice daily, but 200 mg once a day is equally effective.  That treatment is 100% reliable against chlamydia.

Gonorrhea is a possibility.  However, probably a test for gonorrhea was done; usually it is done whenever chlamydia testing is performed. So I doubt that is the problem.

If I correctly understand your symptoms are improved, but have not completely resolved.  If so, that is normal; it often takes 10 days or more for all symptoms to stop.  However, if the symptoms are the same as they were before treatment, or if they are getting worse, then you probably were infected with more than chlamydia.  Trichomonas and gonorrhea might be possible.  Also, some cases of nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) do not respond well to doxycycline.  For example, some NGU is caused by a bacteria called Mycoplasma genitalium, which is resistant to doxy but sensitive to azithromcyin.

If your symptoms are improving, I suggest you complete treatment with doxycycline.  Do not take any additional treatment.  If the symptoms are gone within 2 weeks, nothing more is necessary.

If your symptoms have not improved at all, or if they continue for another week, you need to return to your doctor.  If you do not have gonorrhea, the recommendation is that you be re-treated, this time with azithromycin (1.0 gram, single dose) plus a drug against trichomonas, such as metronidazole or tinidazole.

Heres the results if you can read Spanish..

Hi, I had a positive laboratory test for chlamydia, Im taking Vibramicina two pills once a day = 200mg per dose for 14 days..  I have been taking them after food at lunch as I was told.  I was thinking that If I had to much food maybe I was drowning out the pills.. ??

The only symtoms Ive had is a clear sticky fluid after peeing but only once a week..

Day 11 now and I had some fulid yesterday so Im past the 10 day cure..
Is it normal to have discharge after cure?  I have No pain or any other problems.

Thanks for your help

Based on the similarity of the Spanish/Argentine spelling with English, you undoubtedly were treated with doxycycline (trade name Vibramycin in the US).  Ten days treatment with doxycycline is 100% effective against chlamydia; it is even more effective than azithromycin.  So either the original diagnosis was wrong; or you also had something else that explains your current symptoms.

From the way you ask the question, I cannot tell whether you had a a positive laboratory test for chlamydia, such as PCR or culture; professional diagnosis, but without laboratory confirmation; or your own belief based on symptoms.  Whichever it was, at this point the proper action is to see a health care provider for further diagnosis and consideration whether other treatment is required; and if so, which drug(s) to use.  I cannot make that judgment without direct examination and lab testing.
