Herpes? Received oral from sex worker, 10 days later see bump on shaft

As some background: I've been HSV1 positive for about 5 years.  I had one small initial outbreak back in '05 on my lip and have had maybe 2 re occurances since which consisted of one tiny sore.

My concern now, on December 1st I received unprotected oral from a sex worker who specializes in oral.  She spent close to 40 minutes giving me oral sex.  2 days later, I found a tiny white bump on the upper portion of my scrotum. It was in a very hairy region, which I think I read on this forum is not a likely place for herpes.  The day before seeing the sex worker, I had used a hair dilapidating cream in the region, maybe a hair was growing back ingrown?  I ended up dismissing this as not an STD.  Plus it was in a region she didn't really spend much time on.

BUT, 10 days after the oral sex I now see a bump that is about 3/10 centimeter in diameter on the base of my shaft.  Somewhere where her mouth definitely was.  10 days is within the range of when an initial outbreak would be possible.  It doesn't look like the potential ingrown hair either.  Today is the first day I've seen it and looks like herpes pics I've googled.  Somewhat reminiscent of a tiny ant bite.  I guess I'll see how it progresses these next few days.  It isn't painful.  I've felt some tingling or such sensations these past few days but I attributed it to the hair growing back or anxiety.

1.  Already having HSV1 on my lips, does this affect the chances in any way of me catching HSV2 or another strain of HSV1 genitally?

2. How soon after the supposed initial outbreak should I get tested?  And which test is best?

3.  I did not notice any lesions on her lips though I guess it can be very hard to see under lipstick and certain lighting.  Is HSV2 transmission from mouth to genitals common at all?  And without a lesion, is it very rare?

4.  Assuming HSV2 is rare from mouth to genitals and I already have HSV1 on mouth, is it possible to receive another strain of HSV1 to my genitals from someone else?

OK.  It has nothing to do with the sexual encounter you mentioned.  You should have no further concerns about herpes or other STDs.  That will end this thread.  Take care.

I actually ended up going on Tuesday after I made my post.  The doctor said...pimple.  He did give me a prescription for a couple of antibiotics to be taken for two weeks just to be on the safe side.  One to be applied on the skin, another to be taken twice a day.

As best I can tell from your description, this seems most likely to be just a pimple, i.e. not an STD at all.  But I stress that I cannot tell for sure and it would be risky for you to make that assumption (or the reverse assumption) without medical guidance.  Keep your Thursday appointment, even if the lesion is healing by then, and let's see what your doctor says.

Well, I won't be able to see the doctor until Thursday morning.  By Sunday it looked like a large pimple (whiteish head), Monday it kind of looked skin colored but upon stupidly stretching the area a bit it looked whiteish again, and last night it looks like it burst and now looks like a sore.  It's not painful, no painful discharge either. I'll let you know what the doctor says on Thursday.  I wish I could've gotten it checked out sooner but can't.

If it's one of the STDs you listed above and can be cured with antibiotics, how quickly will I be cured of the STD?

Thank you for the response.  Getting it checked out will unfortunately have to wait until tuesday or wendesday as I'm overseas and return to the states monday night.  I will comment again after getting evaluated.

Welcome back to the forum.

Reacting first to the title of your question, before reading anything else:  a single bump on the penile shaft, showing up 10 days after exposure, is very unlikely to be genital herpes.

Now, having read the question itself:  Only HSV-1 is transmitted from mouth to genitals, virtually never HSV-2; and once someone has been infected with either virus type, s/he is highly resistant to a new infection with the same type, anywhere on the body.  Since you are known to have HSV-1, it is virtually impossible for you to have caught herpes from the oral sex event.  In addition, a single penile bump of this sort, showing up 10 days later, would be very unusual initial manifestation of herpes.  I agree with your self-diagnosis of the scrotal skin lesion:  not herpes or any other STD.

That said, it would be wise for you to see a doctor or clinic for examination of your penile lesion.  Syphilis is a theoretical possibility, but also not very likely.  Most likely it will turn out not to be any STD, and for sure not herpes.  But better safe than sorry.

To the specific questions:

1) See above.

2) You don't need herpes testing. As suggested above, you should seek health care right away for evaluation of the penile lesion.

3) This also is answered above. HSV-2 is rarely if ever transmitted in this situation.

4) Highly unliklely and maybe possible.

I will be happy to comment further if you would like to return with a follow-up comment after you have been professionally evaluated.
