Another STD hand genital question

Good afternoon doctors,

Straight to the point: a couple weeks ago I went to a Chinese massage parlor, no oral, anal or vaginal sex. The women did massage the tip of my penis with the top of her hand. I know the general consensus is that this is not a risk for an STD or HIV.

The other day my girlfriend said she had some spotting between periods and it got me thinking that somehow I inadvertedly gave her and STD. She didn't seem concerned about it but as it happens once in a while.

Additional info: the massuese did not touch herself in her vaginal region right before touching me but it is possible that maybe 5-10 minutes prior to my massage she had contact with another patron. I believe she washed her hands prior to starting my massage; I also inspected her hands prior to the massage and saw no signs or cuts and they appeared to be dry.

If the women did clean her hands properly, and she had residual dry semen on her hands from a prior customer, could dry semen still transmit an STD such as gonorrhea? Prior to touching my penis she massaged my back and ran her hands over my cotton underpants, she then applied lotions on her hands prior to touching my penis. Would oils reactivate bacteria?

My sense is that bacterial std's are not passed through dry fluids but through secretions. As for myself I have no signs or symptoms and I hope to god I didn't give anything to my girlfriend. I think this is the first and last time I got into place like this.

So the question is: can bacterial std's be passed through dried fluids as 5-10 minutes would have to be long enough for a minute Amount of semen to dry on the hands

thanks

Hi doctor, for clarification, I assumed her hands we're dry because 5-10 minutes passed and between the time she spent with the other client, I am almost positive I heard her wash her hands and that when I looked at her hands I saw not wetness visible to the naked eye

No, liquids and oil do not rejuvenate STD pathogens.

You just inidcated her hands were not wet.  Are you entering the realm of "what if...." questions.  If so, please don't go there- I won't.  But no, even if her hands were wet- still not risk.

I have not idea. This was not the STD Forum, it was the STD Communtiy site.

time for you to relax. EWH

Would mixing oils with possible dried or residual semen resurrect the bacteriA?

So as I understand it if the women's hands were moist (not necessarily visibly wet) there would be still no risk.

I read a post in the STD forum in which some one inserted his penis in a used condom (not his own) claiming be area of the condom that touched his penis was dry. The forum leader, aunt Jessie, said this warrants testing. If the fluids were dried, and by you suggestion std's are not passed through dried fluids, why might she suggest this?

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to put things into perspective. This was a no risk encounter. No STDs are passed after genital secretions containing them are dried.  Further, in our combined 60+ years of dedicated STD practice, neither of us has ever seen an STD passed to others on someone’s hands in the course of masturbation.

Your GF's spotting is coincidence and not due to passage of an STD passed to here that was acquired thorough receipt of masturbation.  I would not worry.   EWH
