Another question for Gonorhea

Good morning Doc.
This is a follow up to my prior post.  Qucik recap - Unprotected Oral from Massage parlor twice about 8 months ago.  Have had Hepes 2 for 15 years.  4 -5 months after exposure wife was diagnosed with her first Hepres outbreak as well as Bacteril Vaginosis - since then I have been to over 7 medical offices (std clinic - dermotologist - urologist)  Have tested negative for Gonorhea - Chlamdya - Syphilis - Hiv - NGU.  My follow up is the following - My wife has had very very heavy menstrual periods since the diagnosis and has been complaining of head aches and naseu.  She has also had 2 straight Herpes outbreaks right after her menstraul periods - When she has her outbreaks they come with very very very heavy clear and white discharge.  She was given Metro gel (she is still nursing our 2 year old - hence the gel vs the pill) for the BV (she never had odor with the discharge).  I tested for Gonorhea and Chlamydia via urine sample and was told it was negative and was provided 4 athriomax pills just in case for the BV.  I then freaked out after internet searches and wnet and got tested for NGU HIV SYPHILYS.  I know the pills probably killed any bacteria for the NGU test.  My concernis that my wifes HEavey bleeding durring her period and headaches are a sign of PID.  My question is as follows -

1- How reliable are the urine test for Gonorhea?
2- Can the Athrimax pills kill Gonorhea?
3- Is it possible my wife has something from my expiernce that has turned into PID?
4- If she has PID is the pain unbarable?
5- Can the havy periods be caused by the nursing?

Sorry for the many question.  I have started counsling as well for the worry and guilt that I might have brought something home - I know she has never cheated and has had no other outside expierences.  My concern is the compalints of heacy bleeding during her period - she had a pap and ultrasound at the time of diagnosis if Herpes and BV about 3 months ago.  and they all came back clear.

The azithromycin you took is recommended therapy for NGU. Thus whether you had it or not (probably not) you were treated.  Your concern is not justifable from a medical perspective.  EWH

Thank you again doc for the response.  This will be my last follow up post (I promise) - I just do not want to hurt my family.  My concern is the following - I was tested first for Gonorhea and Chlymedia and then was provided the zithromax pills - they never tested for NGU at that clinic - About 5 days later I went to another specialist and then was tested via swab for the NGU and bacteria - those test came back at 0 negative.  My concern is that maybe I had NGU and those zithromax pills killed the bacteria before the swab test.  So if that is the case I could have had NGU and passed it on to my wife and I will never know based on the pills - Does that make sense (unless zithromax does not help in NGU cases).  Would you say that is a concern I should have?  I had no other symptoms.

thank you doc so sorry for the anxiety ridden post.

Untreated NGU can be associated with PID in women.  There is no evidence of NGU for you however.

Take care.  EWH

Thank you very much doctor for your response.  I am currently undergoing counsling for my guilt and anxiety.  I sent the whole day reseraching this website and have just one more question for you.  If it was NGU and I passed it on to my wife - Could untreated NGU cause pid in women?  And if not what are the NGU symptoms in women.  Thank you again - Its so crazy how 5-10 minutes of a mistake could cause so much anxiety and guilt.  I truly hope I can move past this situation!  Thank you very very much for your insight and help.

Welcome back to the Forum.  I am sorry you are having so much trouble moving forward from your misstep 8 months ago.  You need to.  At this time you have had negative tests, been seen by multiple health care providers and received treatment you did not need.  Time to get over this or seek mental health counseling, not to persist in asking anxiety and guilt-driven questions which have been asked and answered before.  Accept that you did not get an STD from your dalliance.

1- How reliable are the urine test for Gonorhea?
Currently available gonorrhea tests are highly reliable.  Believe your test result.

2- Can the Athrimax pills kill Gonorhea?
The dose of azithromycin you took would have cured about 70% of gonorrhea, if you had it, which was not the case.

3- Is it possible my wife has something from my expiernce that has turned into PID?
No!

4- If she has PID is the pain unbarable?
No the pain of PID is mild., that said, there is no reason for you to be concerned that you have given your wife PID.

5- Can the havy periods be caused by the nursing?
There are multiple causes of PID.  The hormonal changes which occur with latation can change menstrual flow but I am not sure precisely how.

I hope these responses help.  You need to get past your guilt. If you cannot do it yourself, I urge you to seek help in doing so.  EWH

I know the only things from oral is NGU and Gonorhea - I know my test came back neagative right after her diagnosis - I am afraid of a false negative and I do want to hurt my family or wife.  Are false negatives on urine test common?  I also know you can not diagnose my wifes symptoms.  I am just very anxiuos based on her complaints that she has PID - Are there many causes of heavy menstrual bleeding?  Based onmy research of heavy mentrual - I found that most of the causes would have been cleard by her Ultrsound and pap smear - which only leaves PID!! Am i lookinginto this too much?  Thank you again for your help.  sorry for the long posts
