Worry about STD other than HIV.

Hello Doctor,

I have a question for you.recently I had an exposure with a CSW.she gave me a blowjob which was protected and the condom did not break.I did not perform any penetrative sex.the main reason for this is that i noticed some red spots in her pubic area.I asked her about it,she told me that she shaves her pubic hair every other day and these are caused by the shave. Is this a logical answer.Does red spots come when you shave your pubic hair?.Anyway I didnt want to believe that and I bolted. I am not concerned about HIV.but because of the contact (The contact I would say was minimal skin to skin.)with that region.I was sitting on top of her.It is possible that my butts might have come in contact with those spots.(In case those red spots were some kind of STD)(In my opinion those were not sores.but I may not be a good judge.).I am assuming that since there was no penetrative sex there is no concern for HIV based on your posts in the forum. Is this correct.?Is there a concern for worry for other STD's other than HIV.She also had some tatoos and body piercings on her.Does that indicate high risk behaviour.Even if it does does this mean a possible exposure. She also told me that she gets tested every month and she was clean for all STD's.I want to be safe from my side.I am from New Zealand if that information means anything.Your answer is highly appreciated.I have already made a donation to medhelp.I appreciate the excellent work you guys are doing here.

Sorry, your imagination is working overtime.  If you re-read my response you will see that the reason I considered a shaving rash is that it makes sense while the description you give does not suggest other STDs.  Even if they were, they would not be spread by the sort of casual contact you suggest.  Time for you to relax aqnd move on.  EWH

You are not at risk. Indeed, shaving ca cause red bumps to appear at the sites where hairs emerge from the slin. This irriation is one variant of a problem called folliculitis. It is not an STD and is not contagious to sex partners.  On the other hand, no typical STDs come to mind from your description.

Bottom line, you had a condom protected oral exposure to a CSW.  No risk for STD and no need for testing of any sort.

I must admit however, I am a bit suprised at your question regarding whether her tattoos and body piercings indicate high risk behavior. It would seem to me that the fact that she was a CSW would be an indicator of "high risk behavior" which would be far greater that any cosmetic changes you noted.  The tattoos and/or piercings would not increase her risk as a partner beyond the risk associated with her work/

Hope this helps. Take care. EWH

Hello Doc,

Once again Thank You very much for the answer. But you have answered from the perspective that those are in fact shaving rashes. However considering the worst case scenario (i.e they are some STD eg syphillis.) does casual skin contact cause the spread.I was sitting on her for some time.It is possible that my butt might have come in contact with them.Does such casual touching cause the spread of any of the STD's.? Your answer will be highly appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

Hello Doctor,

Thank you very much for your reply. You have definately put my mind at rest.I mentioned tatoo and body piercing in the light of a slightly greater possibility of my partner having Hepatitis C since I read that people with tatoos and body piercings have a chance of acquring hep C.I know that my risk was very low.but I didnt want to completely trust what she said about her being clean. She may be correct actually.Just wanted to make sure.
