I recently attended a swingers club, and now im worried that i may have caught something. i had protected sex and unprotected oral both giving and recieving. i done this with two girls but always protected sex. when i give the girls oral i was inserting my tongue inside there vagina and also licking there anus.do you think ishould get tested.  i now feel ery ashamed and guilty as i have a partner.  the girls did seem clean and had no signs of herpes or anything. what std could i catch from giving and recieving. all in all the whole thing lasted for aboout two hours with loads of oral. could i have caught hiv or anything else and should i get tested...

im so anxious

thanks doctor

One of the characteristics of many swingers clubs is that members are careful to make sure they do not have infections.  Irrespective, you have now had unprotected oral sex (giving and receivign) and feel anxious about it.  If you do not have symptoms, chances are that you did not get an STD but testing to make sure is appropriate.

Oral sex (giving or receiving) is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection).  Even if your partners had an STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  You can go to your local STD clinic or health care provider to be tested at this time.  The tests will be probably be negative and in my opinion, you do not need testing at all.

Similarly, after giving oral sex, it is reasonable for you to also get a throat culture for gonorrhea when you go get checked.  You do not need your throat checked for chlamydia.

Hope this helps.  EWH

No, gonorrhea infecions of the throat would not be tranmitted by kissing.  Gonorrhea of the throat is usually asymptomatic.   Testing is the only way to know if you have pharyngeal gonorrhea.EWH
