Yes, gonorrhea can clear on its own. EWH
Thanks Dr. - I thought I read somewhere chapped lips could be a sign of herpes.
I noticed on another thread you mentioned a slight risk of gonnorhea from oral but no symptoms. Does it just go away on its own?
No, chapped lips are quite differetn form the lesions of herpes. On the other hand, when we get nervous, we lick our lips a lot. I'd just go with Chap Stick. EWH
Last question hopefully - I have been experiencing chapped lips for the past couple of days, is this indicative of anything like HSV. I assume since it occurred so soon after potential exposure (1-2 days) it may not be related, but just wanted to double check. Not even sure if chapped lips are a symptom of HSV.
Thanks.
Correct on both counts. I would not worry. EWH
Thanks Dr. - very helpful and reassuring.
I assume you would tell me no need to get tested in the absence of symptoms in the next day or so and fine to have intercourse with my wife?
Welcome back to the Forum. I'll be pleased to provide some information. Several comments about your oral sex on a dancer:
1. As you already know from your prior post, there is little risk of STD from a man having oral sex performed on him. This risk is even lower for a man performing oral sex on a woman due in part to anatomic considerations.
2. Biting your tongue does not in any meaningful way increase your already very, very small risk of getting an STD from performing oral sex on a dancer. The mouth is a hostile environment to bacteria and other microbes, full of enzymes and other factors which help to resist infection.
As for your question about HSV. the vast majority of lesions appear in the 4-8 day range. Only a small proportion (I would guess less than 5-10%) appear after a period of 10 days.
Hope this information is helpful. EWH
