The symptomsyou describe do not suggest an STD and alcohol would no way effect your test results (unlike, as I think you will agree, your judgement).
In women the initial exam can give some indication but it is not very precise. The testing is really the key. In men immediate testing is more helpful but still not perfect. EWH
Thanks for the advice,
Also i dont think i had any symptoms, i had strong smelling urine, but always have even since i was young. only thing i can honestly say were unusual and not typical, was the pain in the testicles and the fact that (only sometimes) after i peed, i had some leakage for a few seconds after. are these typically related?
Also would alcohol affect the validity of my first test in the summer?
AHH and also a question i forgot to ask in the first post was: when they tested my girlfriend.....can the actually tell anything immediately from the tests they do there and then? by that i mean is there any indication they can tell straight away if a female has an std?
Sorry to go on this i my last post
Thanks again
Welcome to our Forum. NSU or non-specific urethritis is term which describes signs of irritation in the urethra (penis). This can be due to STDs such as chlamydia or it can be non-infectious. Most NGU is not caused by chlamydia. The recommendation when a person has NSU, irrespective of the cause, is for both the person and his sexual partner to be treated, just in case infection is present. This certainly results in some overtreatment but we would rather be safe than sorry.
Chlamydia testing at 4 days should typically be accurate for NSU or CT. I suspect that your current irritation is not related to your encounter over the summer. Perhaps the sports injury could be related. EWH
