Glad to help. I wish you the best in working through this. EWH
Yes. Your response does help very much. Thank you. I appreciate the reassurance that my risk is extremely low to none. I repeat that in my head all the time but as my doctor has told me for some reason its easier for me to focus on something unlikely than what happened. But I will get through this. Thank you again to both you and Dr. HHH. I can never express how comforting you both have been.
Welcome back to the Forum. I will give you the medical facts regarding development of infection below but, before I do, let me emphasize what Dr. Handsfield has told you previously- your risk for getting any STD, including HIV is infinitesimal. I understand the trauma associated with sexual assault (which, indeed this was) and the desire to be completely confident. At the same time, in an effort to contribute to your recovery from this assault, let me point out that the negative tests will convert something that has a less than 1/100th or less of occurring to something that has zero chance of occurring, i.e. there is little risk to start with, even before testing.
1. Chlamydia GC by urine - your 13 day results are definitive.
2. HIV-1 & HIV-2 Single Assay - 8 week results are definitive
3. RPR/VDRL - 3 month results are definitive
4. Acute Hepatitis Panel -3 month results are definitive
5. Herpes Simplex Type 2 - testing is not recommended. In the absence of an outbreak, your risk of a false positive (i.e. incorrect) result is more likely than infection.
I hope these comments help. EWH
