Concerned after risk

Good afternoon Drs,

A week ago I went to a massage parlour and engaged in unprotected oral with a female and she rubbed her genitals against mine with no penetration, until I ejaculated.  Afterwards, she wiped everything off with a warm washcloth and followed with a rubbing alcohol rinse.  Here a week later, I am with a fever of 99.8 and feeling poorly.  I don't have any other symptoms ( No burning urination, sores, etc).   I am concerned I may have caught something but could be nerves.  Please advise.

Thank you!!

Welcome to the Forum.  My suspicion is that you’re feeling poorly and low grade fever is unrelated to the exposure you describe.  Interestingly, most STDs do not cause even low grade fever.

Further, this was a very low risk exposure.  In general, oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs.  Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through receipt of oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny.   If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) by now.  Even if your partner had an oral STD (any STD and it is likely she did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.  If you desire, you could go to your local STD clinic or health care provider to be tested at this time.

Personally, I would not worry.  EWH

No, flu symptoms at 7 days after the exposure you describe are not worrisome for STD, they are suggestive of a coincidental viral illness.  The rubbing you took part in did not put you at risk for STD. EWH

Thanks for your response.  I have one more question.  Since I sent my first question, my fever got worse and went and saw an urgent care dr.  My fever was at 101.8 and the Dr. Says I have the flu and prescribed tamiflu twice a day for 5days and Zithromax 500mg once a day for 3 days.  My question is, did the rubbing genitals and having her fluids as lubricant open me up,to any std risk and would flu like symptoms happen in 7 days from a std?
