Welcome to our Forum. I think that some of my responses will be quite similar to some of the responses that ou have already received on our community sites. Oral sex, including both rimming and receipt of oral sex are just not meaningfully associated with risk for HIV. As for other STDs, there are few studies or risk for STD from rimming- the risk is likely to be small. As for receipt of oral sex- oral sex is an inefficient way to transmit STDs. Of the bacterial STDs only gonorrhea and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) are transmitted through receipt of oral sex; chlamydia is not and without an obvious sore or lesion on your partner’s mouth, the chances of syphilis and herpes is likewise tiny. If you had gotten gonorrhea or NGU you would have most likely developed symptoms of urethritis (penile infection) by now. Even if your partner had an STD (any STD and it is likely he did not), most exposures do not lead to infection.
I suspect that your sore throat and aches represent a community acquired pharyngeal infection- perhaps viral, perhaps strep but I would not worry about HIV.
I hope this comment is reassuring. EWH
Thank you very much doctor for your quick response. So you dont think i have to test for any STDs. If i wanted to could i get a urine test.
I wanted to add another question, sorry. What do you think is causing the sensation in my penis.
Unless you develop symptoms, I relly doubt that there is anything to be gained by testing at this time.
Regarding your itching symptoms, that is difficult to say. Sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned. This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times. Perhaps this was a contributor to your situation.
Your sore throat is most likely just a coincidence. We all get sore throats from time to time. EWH
I'm sorry for being nitpicky. When you say dont test until i develop symptoms does that mean symptoms of STI's besides HIV?. You dont think I should test for HIV at all? How long should i look sypmtoms of the other STIs before i can not worry about being infected.
Sorry if I was iunclear. Yes, the symptoms I was referring to were symptoms of STDs such as penile discharge or buring on urination. Typically such symptoms would develop within a few days (5-7) of exposure. There is no medical reason to test for HIV. If you test for HIV, you are doing so for your peace of mind, nothing more. EWH
