No change in my assessment. If your HerpeSelect is positive that does not mean that herpes is causing your symptoms. I think you need to work through this with your doctor. EWH

The past two days have actually been a significant increase in discomfort. I am in fact still waiting for result to the HSV select test - but i have been experiencing increased surface discomfort to the head of penis and notice tiny spots spread over the surface of it (above the urethra). Still no blisters or sores, but significant redness and what looks like tiny pimples that are a little shiny and there is a constant urge to urinate. this is now i suppose close to a month of these problems and the irritating pain is pretty real. I cant seem to understand whats going on.
Thanks for providing the additional information regarding your own self evaluation and your doctor's thoughts. The additional information adds to my impression that this is not an STD of any sort. Often when we start to worry we tend tend to notice normal variation that we might otherwise not notice at all.
Herpes is really not a major consideration here. I would suggest that you continue to work with your doctor. If your tests show that you do not have an STD, I urge you to believe the results. EWH
Lastly, the spots correlated with the location of my penis at rest, my doctors raised the same question to that point. Is that even a symptom that you would investigate as an initial HSV symptom? This came before any discomfort i have now
to be honest every time i check myself i see something i could miscostrue as abnormal..the area around the urethra is the most abnormal to my eye, with minor inflammation visually but as i said the urinalysis was clear. Everything seems significantly redder than usual. The current sustained sensation as i said before is sting/ irritation within the urethra and some decreased sensation in general. There is no pain on the skin surface. MY GP examined the area 4 days ago and didnt identify anything she perceived to be lesions, but is ordering the tests to investigate.
Welcome to the Forum. I will try to provide some thoughts and perspective. What you describe seems unlikely to be herpes. In addition to the fact that there are no typical lesions present, your symptoms have now been present for more than three weeks and this too would be quite unusual for even an initial episode of HSV. It would also be quite atypical to have HSV and no visible lesions. My guess is that your doctor is unsure of what this is and, for that reason, it doing a HSV test to be thorough.
Small amounts of blood can sometimes appear brown or yellow when dry- could the spots on your shorts be blood from the hemorrhoid problem you just mentioned?
It is not clear to me if there are any visible abnormalities for not. If so, a dermatologist may be helpful. If not, then I would suggest that you wait this out and make a concerted effort not to be repeatedly examining yourself- this can cause irritation that would heal to persist. It sounds to me as though this is not an STD and may be getting better. Correct me if I am wrong. EWH
Additionally - The night before the first genital symptom occurred i had an incident regarding hemorrhoid bleeding which then was ligated the following week, July 14. The worst symptoms have been occuring this week as far as discomfort in the urethra and tip of my penis.
