Muscle aches, cramps? Could have missed something?

33 year old male,12/25/06 had unprotected anal sex with a female, I have had no sexual contact at all for 6 years, the 3rd of January I came down with a cold, no fever that I could determine, a couple of days into it my left elbow started aching, my other joints and muscles became sore (over next week or 2), my armpits felt like they had lumps in them. Had a P24 on Jan 9, negative. About a month into it my groin started to hurt, I had pain in my left testicle and was sore in the groin area, also the inside of my thighs were very sore as well. The skin on my scrotum became very sensitive and the shaft of my penis was aching, no discharge, it also skin was much redder than normal. I had my doctor look at this and he couldn't see anything out of the norm. Herpes test in February(don't remember the day) for HSV 1&2 both negative, Had  HIV, HEP C and Syphilis test on the 26th of January all came back negative. The pain in my groin and testicle went away, but the muscle-joint pain remained, nasal drip is also associated with the muscle pain ,it drips worse when the pain is worse. Groin- testicle pain came back in March, also began to get a cold tingly feeling on the skin where I was having pain, which would come and go. Middle of March had another blood test  WBC/Sed-normal.Saw a rheumatologist at the end of March, tested for parvo and thyroid

I would like to add that it had been 46 days since my last contact with her, I recieved oral sex from her and I fingered her, I washed my hands after touching her as well (as far as I can remember)  could herpes take this liong to show up? Or could it have happened back in December?

I too have had this testical and groin pain. Mine has been with me now for about 6 weeks.

I would love to know what it could possibly be.

Please let me know if you get an answer.

Great to hear you also are having this problem and are HIV -.

Thanks.

I guess the main question I have is could we have missed something? Are these symptoms maybe consistant with ARS or some other STD?

Your symptoms do not suggest herpes, HIV, or any other STD.  Your negative test results are completely reliable, and you have seen a couple of health care providers who didn't find anything.  I don't try to guess at non-STD diagnoses.  Follow up with your own doctors.  But don't worry about herpes or HIV.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
