Genital Wart

Doctors,

Before I begin, I would like to say thank you for all of your professional and educated replies within this forum.  Reading some old posts has helped ease my mind to some degree.  However, I still feel the need to ask my question directly.  I will supply a little background knowledge before I ask my question.  I was in a monogamous relationship for 6.5 years.  Back in March, I had unprotected oral sex with a female who was also in a monogamous relationship for over 10 years.  About 2-3 weeks later, I noticed a small growth of skin on my penis glans, maybe about 5 mm below my urethra, and slightly to the right.  It looks very similar to a skin tag and it is smaller than 1mm.  It can be moved back and forth and seems very flimsy.  Just a side note, I also have a history of skin tags, but I don't know if that makes a difference.  Sometimes, just glancing, it is very difficult to notice.  Also, if I stretch my skin, I also notice many other small bumps, but not as large as the one I'm inquiring about.  Now, I wanted to mention I think I already know the answer to the question I am going to ask due to all of your other replies to somewhat similar cases.  I know the risk of obtaining HPV from unprotected oral sex is rare if ever.  I also know that genital warts are usually found on the shaft of the penis, and there is usually more than one wart.  After learning all this from your forum posts, I still have to ask.  Is there a possibility that this is a genital wart?  By the way, I'm not asking for a diagnosis, just if it could be a wart.

Thank you.

Stop examining yourself.  Your description of your genital skin sounds normal.  See a provider if you remain concerned.  There is no realistic chance you have genital warts.  I have nothing more to say.

Thanks, doctor. I have a couple more questions because I guess my anxiety has gotten to me. I have moved my focus to the possible sebaceous glands now. Mainly in part because I can see a few without stretching the skin. Maybe 6-7. Still extremely small.   This could be due to the fact that I know their location. They still look similar to others surrounding 30-50 but just larger. Is it still likely these are sebaceous glands?  Thanks doctor and sorry for the additional post. I know you guys are busy.

Welcome to the forum.

As best I can tell from your description, you do not have genital warts.  In the off chance that you do, you didn't catch it from the oral sex event 3 weeks earlier.  As you already know, genital warts are rarely if ever transmitted by oral exposure, and warts generally take several months to show up -- sometimes as long as a year -- and 3 weeks is exceedingly unlikely.  The mobile "growth" that looks like a skin tag probably is just that.  And everybody has bumps that can be observed by stretching normal penile skin. Those are just normal sebaceous glands.

If you remain concerned, you'll need to see doctor or clinic for examintion.  But my guess is you are just examining yourself too closely and noticing normal variations in your penile skin.

I hope this helps.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
