Genital warts in urethra, other symptoms.

I noticed growths right inside of my urethra area about a week and a few days ago. I ignored it for a few days, but it got to me so I went to a walk in clinic that said it was mostly likely genital warts caused by HPV. They then scheduled an appointment for me with a urologist last wednesday.  For the next few days I examined my urethra regularly and they did not really change. On tuesday I began noticing that my penis and testicles were really warm. This has continued and sometimes I get a really hot fever sensation for a while. My crotch area just constantly feels warm. A quick urine test ruled out herpes, but they said there were some white blood cells in my urine.

I see the urologist wednesday morning, says that I'll have to get laser surgery because of the area and I gave a urine and sample and they did an endoscopy (ugh!) to make sure the rest of my urethra was okay (it was).

I've been having pain and tenderness in my left testicle since then. I've been using ice to feel better but it's annoying. i have to wear tight underwear when I walk or else the pain gets to me. After feeling my testicle It appears that I might have epididimytis. I don't think this is a normal part of HPV. what do I do until I get my final lab results? what could this problem be?

I've been tested for HIV about 2 months ago, and I have unprotected oral sex semi-regularly with different partners but I not had anal or vaginal sex in at least 3 months and it has always been safe.

If they tested your urine for HSV, it was not the best test.

Despite the earlier onset, I still would advise letting your urologist know about the testicualr pain.  It sounds as though it may have progressed since the procedure or, at the very least, not improved.  EWH

Thanks, that has helped. I forgot to mention that I had the same testicular paint and heat the day before the endoscopy. The walk in clinic took a urine sample, and after receiving the lab results, the only thing the papers said was HSV type 1... none detected and HSV type 2.... none detected.

This is why I'm assuming they simply tested for HSV.

Warts, even when the occur in the urethra are typically asymptomatic.  Laser therapy is an appropriate therapy for urethral warts.

It is not normal for you to be having testicular discomfort and the fact that it has occurred following your endoscopy raises the possibility that there is an infection (epididymitis – while most epididymitis is the result of STD, it can also follow urological procedures and your earlier tests for STDs were negative)) which has occurred as a result of the procedure.  Such problems are not usual but do happen.  I would let your urologist know about these symptoms as quickly as possible.  HE may wish to start antibiotics.

finally, while I think it is not related to your other problems, I doubt that your urine test was for herpes. It is more likely that this test was for other STDs such as gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU.

Hope this helps.  EWH
