Possibly Herpes??

Question Dr.,

Last summer I had a lesion on the top of my penis that appeared after I had been in the woods, hay fields, creek for several days. I had all sorts of bites all over my legs. I went to my Dr. and he said that it definitely looked like an insect bite, he dismissed herpes said he saw no reason to even think that. That was 8 months ago. 2 weeks ago I was examining my penis as I so often to extensively and saw what looked to be a group of about 20 very tiny, no bigger than a pin head bumps on the bottom side of my penis. The bumps seemed to be in straight rows The bumps seemed to be going away, but as I often do I scratched them off and they bled. It then seemed to just be raw skin as I kept looking and looking and looking. Not it seems like a sore with hard edges and a discoloration. My Dad who is a Nurse Practioner assures me I am fine and that I worry way too much. I have not had sex with anyone in months, and anyone I have ever had sex with I have known for extensive periods of time and almost always used protection. I am just wondering if this sounds like herpes? Thank you

The more you describe this, the less it sounds like herpes.  I really urge you not to worry about herpes.  EWH

The sore is also about 2 inches around the other side than the previous bug bite was. I have read that herpes usually occurs in the same spot. The sore never really opened up until I stractched it either. Thanks!

I didn't really mention that now it just seems like one sore, but it has been 2 weeks. The sore seems to be hardened doesn't weep or bleed really, and it surrounded by what looks like a pink scar. This is what came out of the tiny tiny bumps. No real pain or really redness just looks like it's scarring? Does this change your opinion at all? I have not had sex ever with a person who I didn't know for an extended period of time. Am I just being paranoid? Thank you

The lesions which you describe really do not sound at all like herpes, nor do the circumstances under which they occurred.  Insect bites, some other type of rash or even normal skin changes are all possible alternate explanations.  Should the lesions re-appear, (I doubt that they will),rather than scratch them off, please go see a health care provider who can test you if they think it is appropriate.  EWH

I should also add that there never looked to be any fluid at all in any of the bumps, thy seemed kinda hard, nor any blister looking or other fluid. Thanks!
