Oral STD concern.

Hello Doctor,

Back in January, I received brief unprotected oral from a stripper. When I say brief, I mean 30 seconds (just enough time to come to my senses and pull away). Since then, no discharge or sores, just alot of guilt that's created discomfort in my mind. I'm definitely a guy that falls into the genitally focused anxiety category, and I fully acknowledge that. I've been this way since I was younger and try not to let it get the best of me, usually allowing common sense to prevail.

However, a couple of things occured that I must point out. About 3 weeks after the incident, my wife performed oral on me to completion. The next morning (definitly less than 24 hours later), she had sores/blisters on the roof of her mouth. But here's the thing; for the last several years, anytime my wife performed oral on me to completion and DID NOT drink water (or wash her mouth out) afterwards, she devloped sores in her mouth the next morning (usually on the inside of her cheeks). But eveytime she 'washes out' afterwards, no problem! I probably wouldn't have thought much of this last episode if it were not for my silly mistake just a few weeks earlier. Now I get to thinking....is it an STD caused from my encounter?

I've avoided intercourse since the incident, but this was greatly helped by a surgery (Diverticulitis) I had in mid Feb that pretty much took me out of action during this time, anwyay. But now it's about that time for sex to resume and I just want to be sure that I'm not putting her at risk.

Look forward to your opinion, Doc.

The exposure you describe is zero risk, for practical purposes, for any STD; and your lack of symptoms is also evidence that you weren't infected.  Equally important, your wife's symptoms cannot be due to an STD that you acquired during your January adventure, or any other time.  No STD can cause symptoms within hours of exposure, and your wife's problem obviously goes back a long time.  It sounds like she reacts in some way to your semen or to something irritating that occurs during oral sex.  There are reported cases of people being allergic to their partners' semen.  It is very rare, but it sounds like it might apply in your situation.  I am not an expert in this, really don't know anything about it.  If you want to follow up, seeing an allergist makes the most sense.  Or she could just continue to rinse her mouth after oral sex, since that seems to have been effective.

Of course I cannot guarantee that anybody isn't infected, there is nothing in your story that suggests you have any STD or that you should not resume sex with your wife.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Forgot to mention...

Although there has been no discharge or sores, I did find a couple of black/brown pin head size marks on my shaft. To be honest. I probably would've never found them if I wasn't searching over my penis like a lost treasure map. They haven't changed in size in a week since i've noticed them. I did develop a very small pimple-like thing on the shaft about a month after the incident, which didn't change much at all over a 3 week period, so I finally popped it. Stuff that looked like it would come from a pimple came out, but it was so small, there wasn't much to look at. A little blood followed, similar to that of a pimple after you pop it.

Anyway, that's my story. I want to resume having sex with my wife, but also want to make sure that i'm doing the right thing. Would herpes or Gonnorhea show some signs by now? I understand that there's little or no risk for anything else.

Thanbs again, Doc!

Tiny blackheads are common on the penis.  If you press the black spots, you probably can express a core, just like a blackhead anywhere else.  This also goes along with the occasional occurrence of a pimple on the penile shaft.

Yes, herpes or gonorrhea would show signs by now.  Neither of those can explain your wife's symptoms anyway.
