Duo Test Results

Hello Doctor needing a second opinion,

I am going through the worst 12 weeks of my life. I had unprotected insertive sex with a transexual prostitute 9 weeks ago in Australia. From that  time I have been extremely anxious and worried about HIV. In the first week I tested Positive for Chlamidia so am extremely worried about my HIV result in week 12. As far as symptoms go I had what my doctor described as a non specific rash effect my sholders and back between weeks 3-6, felt really tired with a stiff neck for the first six weeks and have had a burning and dry sensation in my mouth for the past 9 weeks. Im hoping alot of this has had to do with the anxiety. I havent had a high tempreture or sore throat thank God.

The positives during this time period is that I have had negative duo tests at 4 weeks (27 days) and 6 weeks ( 45 days). My question is can I feel comfortable that I dont have Hiv by these two tests or is it still very possible that there will be a sting in the tail when I test at 12 weeks?

Thank you

I would have no concerns abouut your test resutls at 12 weeks and, in fact, see no reason for testing.  DUO tests provide reliable test results at 4 weeks.   Thus your results at both 4 and 6 weeks prove that you did not get HIV from the exposure you describe.  If you test at 12 weeks, I am confident the results will be negative unless you have acquired infection in the interval since the exposure you describe.  EWH
