Thank you very much for the reassurance. I hope that it is neg. if so I can deal with anything; my biggest fear was being reinfected numberous of times and getting PID. It's just been great that my BF has been here for me and is understanding.
I will work with my ob gyn; she did check me for trich, bv and yeast upon my request and she did not find anything. She informed me that if my Chlamydia test is neg. that she would have to send me else where for my burning as it has continued for months now. I will just be thankful if its not chlamydia.
Thank you very much for every thing!!! this forum has been such a great help; you and AJ and everyone who has helped everyone like myself. and I'd like to do something to help it continuing; is there a donation of any sort for this forum and or organizations that are in relation that I can donate to? Please let me know
Thank you!!
Chlamydial infection of the prostate is vanishingly rare and there are some experts who wonder if it ever occurs at all. When the prostate is infected, it typically is symptomatic. Finally, the treatment you received for chlamydia is excellent. Putting all of these fact together, my first tendency is to wonder if something other than chlamydia is causing your symptoms - BV? trich?, other. I predict that your chlamydia repeat test will be negative (BTW, results should be back in just a few days, I can't imagine why it would take 2 weeks for them to come back. Once the specimen gets to the lab it takes about 4-6 hours to run). My advice would be to work through this continuing discomfort with your OB-Gyn. It may take several visits to be sure of what is going on but that is the best approach. Take care. EWH
sorry that is suppose to read five months*, We did not get our treatment 5 months after infection
Good morning Doctor,
I just returned from my doctors and she did see visible warts during the colpo...
I'm not too concerned with the wart any more they can be taken care of; I think I will let them resolve on their own instead of getting treatment.
My main concern now is Chlamydia; I did get tested again today because of symptoms:
Burning, and bleeding after intercourse... I've also had slight pain on my sides.
My bf and I weren't treated for five weeks after infection because we didn't know.
First treatment was with zithromax... three weeks later I still felt the burning and pain so we both got a second treatment with out testing because it was too soo after first treament
-Now I have still have the burning, slight pain on my sides and light bleeding after intercourse,
I have to wait two weeks for the results so I wanted to ask you a few things:
Could my BF have chlamydia in his prostate? if he does what would be the best treatment?
How common is it for chlamydia to be in the prostate
Its been 7 months would he have had symptoms if he had it in his prostate?
He is 22 and never had any other stds; went 4-5 months with out treatment; has never had any symptoms and still does not. I'm the only one who has the persistant symptoms.
Thank you for your help!!
That makes complete sense and I should have thought of that....
I have read Many many of the other post that are inregards to HPV; I have found them very helpful and that is why I am more relaxed about this.
Although they provide me great information I still find the need to have my own experience assessed, hope that doesn't sound obsessive
I also understand your comment about the brief threads, I've def. noticed how many ppl need help just as i do.. I just wanted you to know I will not be oneof those million question post. as I have been with jessi.
Thank you for your answers and help, I will return to let you know how things end. Have a wonderful christmas and a happy new year
Several comments. First, you were partially protected by having received two of the three recommended vaccine doses so full protection does not occur unitl you are fully vaccinated with three shots. Partial protection does occur after two shots however.
Secondly and perhaps more important, there are other HPV types beyond those ffour ound in the vaccine. Your PAP smear changes may be due to other HPV types. If that is the case, that is good news since the bulk of cancers and troublesome side effects are caused by the types found in the vaccine.
As far as resolution rates, the figures I wuoted are from the time of diagnosis onward. It would be impossible to tell how long someone has been infected prior to diagnosis in most cases.
we keep our answers brief so we can get to more people's questions. In addition, answers to many questions have beeen covered in the past on this and our other forum and can be found by searching previous threads. Take care. EWH
Good morning Doctor,
I found out this morning that my pap came back abnormal... I have relaxed with the idea of warts but my question is how could the shots fail if I had two... I had only been with one person before the shots and I was his first as well. We had a great relationship so I doubt he cheated on me. Could i still have gotten it with only two of the three shots?
and one other thing I wanted to ask,
You state that most wart cases clear up on their own with in at least 9 months, is that from the time they appear or from the time you contract HPV?
I have noticed you and doc. hhh like to have brief threads, so I will not comment until I have the scraping to let you know what the results are, I just wanted to clear up the questions above.
I have an appt. on the 8th of jan to have a colon. and a scraping. sounds painful.
Thank you for you help
Thank you very much for clearing up those concerns for me. I will keep this out of my mind until I find out what is really what.
Thanks again hope you have a wonderful holiday
1.I cannot explain why sometimes warts do not show up for years. I can however tell you that studies which have observed people getting HPV do see them clearing as described. Sorry. Those are the data
2. When HPV infections resolve whether they are really gone or just no longer detectable is an unanswerable question which has been debated for some time although currently most experts feel that they really do go away. the esitmate that only 20-30% of persons will clear the infection on their own is lower than what most current research shows.
3. The photos you are referring to are worst case scenarios and are not typical. EWH
Sorry I forgot to add for question number two the rason I ask is because I read that only10-30 percent of folks will clear the virus with out treatment.
Just thought I would add that so you would be able to address it.
thats it
Thank you
Thank you doctor for your quick reply,
I did get the feeling that this subject is not of great concern to you since it is not as serious as other STDS, Which I understand and respect. You know best.
On the other hand I would like to ask something that is in my great concern and confusion.
I did do some research and also have been given some information...
1) I read that sometimes genital warts doesn't show up for years... My question is how would it clear up in 8-10 months if it sometimes doesn't show up for years?
2) I also read that Genital warts never leaves the body and reoccurances do occur... is this true?
3) I saw some disturbing photos of genital warts, they grew to over come the entire v*****. Does that really happen?
those are my only concerns at this time, I have decided to just get a biopsy of the concerned area instead of playing the quessing game. Until I know for sure whether I do or do not have it I will try not to think of this. But I wanted to clear a few things up.
Thank you
Let's get the easy one out of the way first. Your chlamydial infection is cured. No further concerns there.
Now for what may be warts. The topic of HPV and genital warts is a complex one. I will try to provide some facts. For addition information on this most common of STDs, I would suggest search for other HPV- and wart-related Q&A on this site, as well seeking addition information on sites such as the American Social health Association web-site (disclosure, Dr. Handsfield and I are both on the Board of ASHA)..
Now, on to HPV. Congratulations on getting the HPV vaccine, It is in your best interest and will offer good protection. As you probably know, HPV is the most commonly acquired STD. Over 85% of sexually active women will have HPV infection at some time in their lives. In some HPV will cause genital warts, in others it will not cause warts but may lead to changes in PAP smears. In nearly everyone who gets HPV, warts or otherwise, the infections will resolve by themselves without therapy in 8-10 months. In a very small minority of women, HPV infection can persist and lead to the pre-cancerous lesions that PAP smears detect and which can then be treated. In addition and of particular relevance to you and your partner, little genital "bumps" and other things are commonly mis-identified as warts, even by experts. The fact that you are partially vaccinated increases the likelihood that you do not have warts or, if you do, they have been there a long time and were not apparent until your doctor took a (very) close look.
My advice. Don't sweat this. You may or may not have a wart. If you do, you need to be concerned, the HPV that causes visible warts are not the ones that cause abnormal pap smears. There is no need for you and your BF to modify your sexual practices because of these either. I realize this may sound like I am not giving these things enough concern but, honestly, they really are not something to worry about.
Hope this helps. EWH
