HPV/Warts

I have had only one sexual partner but contracted HPV nonetheless. My former girlfriend developed cervical dysplasia (without warts) and I developed genital warts. I have had them treated over the course of a year through freezing and Aldara cream. I had several recurrences but it looks like I'm finally cleared up. My question is this: after being free from symptoms for a certain length of time can I assume that I am free from the virus itself? Or, should I always assume that I have a transmitable virus and therefore inform future partners. What is your opinion in terms of my obligations here? Thanks for the help.

I agree with the person who left a comment before I responded:  Look at all the strings on HPV and warts over the past few weeks.  Also see the warts/HPV information in the link "STD Quick Facts and Articles" at the top of this forum.  If they don't answer your questions, come on back.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
