by the way, thank you
He did do a urinalysis and found trace amounts of blood in it and that was all.
First answering the follow-up question (below): I see no possible connection between these symptoms and an emotional talk.
The only possible STD connection with symptoms like yours is epididymitis, a testicular infection. It would be good to discuss this with the doctor who examined you; the symptoms and findings on exam could be similar to those of an epididymal cyst and hydrocele. (I don't think I could tell the difference, although a urologist might be able to do so.) Among younger men (typically under age 35), the main causes of epididymitis are chlamydia and gonorrhea (mostly chlamydia). In men over 35, the main causes are the same bacteria that cause non-sexually transmitted urinary tract infections, i.e. things like E. coli, Enterococcus, and others. If an STD is the cause, you might have discharge of pus or mucus from the penis.
Your age is close enough to the usual cut-off that you definitely should be tested for all those possibilities. Of course, if you haven't had a new sex partner recently, or your regular partner isn't have sex with others, chlamydia and gonorrhea are not likely.
If your doctor didn't do a urinalysis, urine culture for bacteria, and STD testing, you might question him about it. But if he is confident in his diagnosis of cyst and hydrocele, you probably can trust his judgment.
Not knowing what you have, I will not recommend any particular treatment. Just follow your doctor's advice.

Two nights before this started my girlfriend who we haven't had any kind of sexual activity yet got very emotional about her life and the recent death of her father. It was a pretty emotional talk, wondering if anything related to this could have started this down there. Previous girl was dating left and got a real bad case of blue balls. Blue balls is a real condition. But this is different. Just wanted to mention it and see if anything like that can trigger that?????
