HPV

Doc, at the risk of repeating myself I apologize to you and other forum participants, but I need some clarifiation. Just a few questions if you can answer them all I would apprecaite it

1)48 female in monogamus relation for 10+years until 14+months ago.  You stated you can't judge risk of aquired asymstomatic HPV from a single but probabbly low. Well Doc, it was not a single incident, but always protected, however we did have much skin to skin contact. And you are right I was not a virgin when I met my current partner. Does this raise the anti?

2)However you did state that most HPV infections clear the immune system within 6-12 months. Did my risk of aquiring asymptomatic HPV type for causing warts increase also? I am afraid that I will wake up with GW some day, months, or years down the road. I am definately loosing sleep over this and I still fell guilty.

3)That being said, Is it still true if I haven't goten genital warts by now from an encounter 14/15 months from the last encounter, I never will?

3) The Nurse Practioner at PP told me that the bumps/lesions near/on my genitals are skintags, movable, soft, and floppy. and very common for for age. Most articles reports that the incubation period for GW is 1-3-6 months. But then some reports state warts first appear many months or years after catching the virus.  Which is it, very confusing.  My question is can I stop worring about GW and get back to my life?

I don't want to infect my current partner for my stupid and selfish mistake. Thank you Doc, for all you do.

Your risk is higher after multiple sexual exposures than after only one, so I guess it "raises the ante".  But jumping to question 3, if you haven't gotten warts by now, it almost certainl won't happen.

Genital warts aren't worth nearly the level of anxiety you are experiencing.  It's just a wart!  No different from the kind of problem so common in kids and most adults sometime in their lives.  I had warts on my hands several times between ages 10 and 20--it's just no big deal.  And as I probably said in response to your question a few weeks ago, even if you happen to have asymptomatic HPV--and I don't think you do--and transmitted to your partner, he probably would never know it.

Relax.  Don't let this run your life.  Best wishes--   HHH, MD
