Herpes?

Dear Mr./Ms,

Last weekend I had sex with my girlfriend for the first time.  We had unprotected sex and we talked about our past.  Everything was fine.  Anyways, below is what transpired.

We had sex 5 times over the course of 3 days.

1x Friday
2x Sat
2x Sunday

We'd go really hard for 45 - 1:15 minutes.  I'm pretty big and I had a hard time getting in.  A couple of times I felt the side of my penis getting irritated when we would go really hard.  (Note: It almost felt like my skin was running up against her shaved hairs. She was very stubbly). I'd pull my penis out 3/4 of the way and go in pretty hard. At one point I though I may have broke my penis because she landed on it the wrong way.

Anyways, today I noticed very tiny little red dots on the very bottom of my head (5-6) and upper part of my shaft.  2 or 3 look to have tiny, tiny white heads. Depending on the angle.  It really looks like someone got a fine tip marker and put little dots there.

The area affected was the area that bothered me during sex.  I'd have a hard time fitting my head in and it felt like my skin in that area was being pulled during sex but I continued anyways.

I've never noticed anything like this before.  They don't bother me and you don't notice them unless you look really close but I'm worried this could be the start of herpies or something.

I think part of the problem is that she's petite and not very loose.  I'm fairly big and my penis when erect goes up towards my stomach. Some positions can really hurt initially like when she's on top or doggy style.

I didn't use any lubrication and I really wish I did.  Anyways could you please, please shed some light on this for me.

Thanks,
Stevie

Welcome to the forum.  I see you asked the same questions on the herpes forum.  I think you can expect a similar reply from Terri Warren, the moderator.

From what you say, trauma/irritation is a far more likely cause of your symptoms than herpes.  The initial herpes symptoms are not smal little red dots of the sort you describe, but such changes are common after vigorous manipulation of the penis -- probably small broken blood vessels in the skin.  Herpes would start as red bumps (not just spots) that within 1-2 days would turn into blisters and then open sores or become pimple-like.

Most likely your red spots will just fade over the next few days.  If so, I wouldn't worry about it.  But if you still have doubts, or if the lesions change as I just described -- become blisters, sores, etc -- then see a health care provider right away for accurate diagnosis.  But I doubt that will happen.

The powder is fine.  I have no further advice.  Take care.

Hi Doc,

It's a little better today.  The redness has gone down slightly on one side and it's the same on the other.  It's either the same amount of dots or a few less.

I usually use GoldBond or Baby Powder.  Is this ok?

BTW - I forgot to mention this.  I didn't shower after having sex with her saturday night.  We were both extremely sweaty and I was just too damn tired to shower.  I usually make a point to do this though b/c I'm not circumcised.

On Sunday it felt irritated but no redness to my recollection. I remember telling myself we probably shouldn't have sex b/c my penis was sore.

Going forward we'll take things easier and I'll make sure to use lubrication.

Red spots under the foreskin can go along with superficial trauma, but they also could be due to a yeast infection.  Many women carry yeasts normally in the vagina, so in that way it could be related to the recent sexual activity.  In addition to my advice above, I suggest you retract the foreskin a couple times a day, wash with soap and water, and use a little talc or cornstarch to keep the area dry.  Regardless of the cause, I expect it will clear up quickly.

Thanks Doc.  I really appreciate your feedback.

I'll continue to monitor the situation. The red dots freaked me out. I'm not circumcised so unless I pull the skin back and look you can't see them.
