Herpes?

Dr. ,

Last couple of months I've had intermittent burning and tingling around/in vagina that come and go. I've been to GYN 3 X and each time when feeling burning she says does not look herpetic; maybe slightly irritated. Before that, I had used a lysol cleaning wipe to wipe my vagina. Also, I've read on internet and had all the symptoms - back pain, leg pain which happens during and after these perceived outbreaks and vibration feeling on one side of labia but no visible blisters. I've had a few rashes during this time and not sure if possible herpes lesions.

Rash 1: located on upper buttocks crack - bright red skin no blisters, not itchy and cleared within 2 days

Rash 2: weeks later - red irritated skin 1inch above anus but again no visible blisters; it did feel a little sore to touch in one particular area but couldn't see a blister and went to derm. but rash was gone within a few days so Dr. was not worried and doubt its herpes.

Rash 3: again weeks later - previous to this "rash" felt tingling/burning in vagina/back and leg pain, vibration/pulsation on one side of labia, no visible vagina sores, wetn to GYN said not concerned but then 2 weeks later noticed slightly tiny red spot above anus, slightly sore to touch, possible crack in skin, but sore only for 1-2 days and cleared up with the skin feeling a little irritated and itchy but not red.  My x-bfriend looked at it; thinks I don't have herpes and I am just noticing everything b/c obssessed.

Do these sound like herpes rashes/lesions?  Wouldn't a herpes lesion look like a blister adn wouldn't it last for longer?  I also had a rash on eyelid that was scaly red swollen and cleared within days just fyi.

I had unprotected sex w/ a man previous to all this but he says he never had herpes symptoms

The fact that you've had abnormal sensations in your genital area which come and go are suggestive but by no means diagnostic of genital herpes and when considered in the context of other issues you raise, seems unlikely.  Typical genital herpes does present with small "water blisters" at the site at which they occur.  In addition, your symptoms seem to move around a bit which is not typical of herpes which recurs in the same area.  Also first episodes of herpes are usually present for 10 days up to three weeks.  After that they can recur for shorter periods of time, typically just a few (3-5) days.  Finally, you have been examined on three occasions by an experienced clinician whom I suspect has seen plenty of herpes in the part.  Putting all of this together, I suggest you work with your GYN to find another explanation.  EWH

p.s.  Lysol is precisely the wrong thing to apply to your genital area.  It is toxic to tissue/
