Heterosexual contact-HIV

Hi Doctor Triple H,

I have been tested for HIV before, negative. Over the past year and a half, i have had sexual intercourse with two women. I used condoms every single time (3 times with one woman, 5 with the other). These woman are not prostitutes and are professionals however each was having an affair at the time with me. I am guilty about this however i am more concerned with a risk quantification. The condoms did not suffer a breakage or a lack of integrity and were used throughout. Also i received oral sex from both women once but did not give it. How would you rate my HIV risk? Should i seek testing? I have not experienced classic HIV symptoms during the past year or any other symptoms for that matter.

Thanks
Roger

The risk probably is lower than you think, but you should be tested for peace of mind.  If money is a problem, why pay $50 or more for Home Access?  Go to your local public health clinic for free testing.  For a more complete response, spend $10 of the savings for a new thread.

no $ - need to buy home access - please help !

i'm a female/24 - about a month ago i had unprotected oral sex with a black male, we also had unprotected vaginal sex for 2 minutes, since then i have had one yeast infection but my real concern is HIV/AIDS, especially after reading all the stats (1 in 50 black males have aids?) it's almost a month since the encounter so i am going to be testing with home access very soon, but what are my real risks here? he saids he is clean but people's words always the most trustable. i have been waking up with night sweats, and i know it's a sign, but as you always say, symptoms are not a good indicator of aids/hiv infection....

I would classify your sexual exposures as entirely safe and that you are at zero risk for HIV.  In any case, the odds are the two women you describe are not HIV infected.  But if in doubt, perhaps you could ask them.  If either one says that in fact she has HIV, you probably will want to be tested--but even so, your risk was close to zero.  I do not generally recommend HIV testing under such circumstances.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
