Glad to help. Take care. EWH
Thanks Doctor. Was just curious about the N-9 issue. Thanks for the reassurance. Condoms are the key. Take care.
Welcome back to our Forum. The exposure you describe was virtually no risk for any STD, including HIV and, as a result, you do not need testing. Several comments may help to show you why I feel this way.
First, most CSWs use condoms to protect themselves, not clients. This despite being a "high volume provider", your partner is taking steps to avoid infection.
Second, the critical thing to consider, and the reason you need not worry, is that the condom did not break. When condoms break they break wide open leaving no doubt that they failed. Clearly your condom did not fail.
Third, the issue with nonoxynol-9 is that in CSWs with many exposure the N-9 is actually associated with increased risk for infection. Whether N-9 increases risk for men following a single exposure in a meaningful way however is unknown- probably not. The N-9 studies were done with N-9 creams however and again, as long as the condom does not break, there is no risk to you.
based on your descriptions, I would not worry about this encounter and see no need for testing. I hope my comments are helpful to you. EWH
