Little red bumps.

I was in the shower cleaning myself 3 days ago.  I am uncircumcised and pulled back my foreskin to wash and check things out and noticed a few small red bumps sporadically placed on my glans.  I have been intimate with the same girl for 3 years now and have not had sex with anybody else, in fact, I have never experienced intercourse.  The bumps are small and are only very slightly raised.  They don't appear to be clustered at all.  They don't itch or hurt as of yet, but bumps on my penis are not a pleasant thought.  Any ideas about the matter?

Hello. I have little red bumbs on my body in odd places.  I have racked my brain to fiqure out what they could be and from what. I have very sensitve skin. I havent done anything out of the ordinery ie. change soaps for body or laundry.  I have tried to play doctor to see if or what it could be.  I went to a doctor who said it was an allergy.  They are tiny tiny raised bumps with oil inside. not alot like poison ivy but very little oil. when they break from the extream itch they bleed. i have been taking an antihystamine and putting rubbing achohol on them and then a natural moisterizer.  in my day all of a sudden i will feel and extream itch and there will be a new bump. Primarily they are on my chest, near my underarm area, my arms & legs I have 2 in my penis as well. HELP!!!

Any kind of bacterial overgrowth could cause odor; it doesn't change my advice.

Well, as an update, I have noticed an odor coming from the are.  The odor isn't strong and is there even minutes after I have cleaned the area.  Does this point in any particular direction?

Probably minor irritation of some sort, maybe a yeast infection.  It is true that herpes can be subtle, so I can't really rule it out--but I doubt it.  Talk to your partner about whether she might have symptoms of a yeast infection (mostly itching, +/- scant discharge).  You might try one of the OTC products for fungal infections, e.g. one of the creams sold for jock itch or athlete's foot.  If it persists, see a dermatologist.  Anyway, it doesn't sound like any of the common STDs.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
