Sorry -- not an STD, and I'm not an expert. I've never heard of ringworm causing genital area infection, but I suppose it can do so. Happily, it isn't serious and is easily treated -- but you'll need to follow your own doctors' advice.
Me too!! Know anything about ringworm - it is spreading in my house like wildfire
Thanks for the follow-up. Glad it's nothing serious.
Right now she says it is a cyst. I think there looks to be new little brown or black spots but she said she could only see an older beauty mark. I don't see anything like ringworm but have been very itchy and I have three children diagnosed with ringworm this week :(
I'm glad you have an appointment. Sorry it can't be sooner, but don't worry about this in the meantime. For sure this isn't vulvar cancer, which doesn't behave this way at all. Even if it were, even a year's delay probably would make no important difference in the outcome; certainly 3 weeks will not.
I could not get an appointment with my md until the 26th. If for some unusual reason it is something like vulvar cancer ( I did now notice two small black marks near the initial area of concern) could this long wait time for my appointment be an issue?
I doubt there is any risk of any infection that would harm your child.
Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.
For the moment, I will assume your self-diagnosis of recurrent vaginal thrush (yeast infections) is correct. However, it seem you are uncertain about whether your current symptoms in fact are due to yeast. Therefore, I strongly recommend you be professionally examined. Recurrent yeast infections usually can be easily prevented with a single oral dose of fluconazole (trade name Diflucan in the US) once a week. I will also add that fluctuating sugar intake will not trigger yeast infections, expect perhaps in people with poorly controlled diabetes. (Is there any chance you have diabetes?)
Having said all that, I doubt you have genital herpes, which usually does not first show up as a single lesion. That said, the only way to know for sure is to be professionally evaluated.
Finally, I doubt any of your symptoms have anything to do with the change in the soap used by you or your husband.
Please let me know the outcome after you have been professionally evaluated; perhaps I'll have more comments at that time. In the meantime, don't be overly worried. I doubt you have herpes or anything else at all serious.
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
Also, I am nursing an older baby - any risk for her of anything?
My last post had. Typo: should have sad "blister with a very small white spot on it"
