What are my chances of getting a STI?

Dr,
Went for a massage, she did hand job and her breasts to finish the hand job (5 mins each) - no protection. At the end, she put a warm moist towel on my penis - felt soothing. There was no contact of my penis with her mouth, vagina or anus. After 2  days, felt dryness in glans penis lasted 2 days. Two days later, severe redness and itching of glans - subsided in a wk after clotrimazole and diet (I am a boderlin DM). Discomfort and mild itching in the prepuce from day 10, and a small area of redness plus a single 2 to 3 mm small blister with no pain on my frenulum. The blister disappeared in 3 to 4 days leaving no trace.
Oraquick swab test - negative (wk 4). The discomfort and tingling (especially in glans penis) lasted until day 30 and went away only after 4 days of doxycycline (100 mg bd for 15 days just to rx. syphilis). In wk 8, repeat Oraquick – again negative. Same week, went to Planned Parenthood - checked by a RN. I showed the spot where the tiny redness and blister was (on frenulum). Said it does not look like syphilis or herpes and only took urine sample for gonorrhea and Chlamydia (no results yet). Blood test for hivnegative. Refused to do a blood test for syphilis or herpes and said there is not enough justification to do them. I was not happy, the reason I went to the Planned Parenthood center was to convince myself that I don’t have any STI, but they denied tests.
I have had no nodes, no dysuria, no urgency or frequency during this period.
My questions are:
1. What is the likelihood of contracting any of the STIs from this encounter?
3. If it is not STI, how the 3 to 4 week long tingling and discomfort in my glans penis that went away after doxycycline can be explained?
4. Can I have normal sex life with my wife or wait until I do all tests on wk. 13?
5. If I had syphilis that got treated by the doxycycline that I took, will a VDRL/RPR test be positive if I do one now?
6. Should I see a STI expert for rx.?
Going insane, please help!

Thaks for the additonal information.  Even with this however, I do not see anything to suggest an STI.  I cannot say whether or not the balanitis you describe led to the tingling you experienced or not but I suppose it is possible.

Please feel free to post your test results when available although I would recommend against testing for HSV since the results are more likely to be misleading than helpful.  I am confident they will be negative. EWH

Thank you Dr. Hook for your comments...it is quiet reassuring!

I could not include the following details due to character limitations:

The partner had a cold sore and it was red but crusted. Not sure if this will make a difference to my health status.

From your answer: if tingling and itching were due to irritation by a lotion or cream, they should have started the same day. But in my case, it started after 10 days after balanitis subsided.

Could my balanitis which lasted for a week lead to the tingling and discomfort in my glans penis?
During that time I felt like there is a foreign body in the tip my of penis and always that made me to repent my decision to go get that massage.

Ninty minutes of pure bliss (massage) has led me to this 90 days of hell!!!

I have a family to care and I swear I will never even go for a massage let alone erotic massage.

Even though there is risk in any activity, there are many good ways to die....I don't want to suffer and die with a STI or HIV.

Even though I am sure there is nothing to worry about now...I am still going to go ahead with tests (VDRL, HIV and HSV, GC, CT) at the end of November (13 wk) and shall get back to you with results.

I am looking forward to your answer Dr. Hook.

Thanks again for your earlier comment, very useful!

Welcome to our Forum.  I'll be pleased to comment. the exposure you describe, receipt of masturbation and contact with your partner's breasts does is not associated with any meaningful risk for STI and I would not be worried at all about such an exposure.  On the other hand, I find myself wondering whether or not there might have been some sort of lotion, soap, or other material on the moist towel which lead to local irritation.  I certainly would not have recommended the antibiotic therapy that you took.

Regarding your specific questions:
1. What is the likelihood of contracting any of the STIs from this encounter?

Effectively zero.  I have never seen or heard of any STI being transmitted by this sort of contact.

3. If it is not STI, how the 3 to 4 week long tingling and discomfort in my glans penis that went away after doxycycline can be explained?

See above. This really does not sound like an STI.  Sensations such as tingling and itching regularly occur in persons who are looking (and therefore paying focused attention) for STI symptoms and most often are the result of becoming aware of normal sensations which are overlooked when persons' attention is focused elsewhere.  The sensations you report are not at all suggestive of either syphilis or herpes.

4. Can I have normal sex life with my wife or wait until I do all tests on wk. 13?

Yes, there is no reason to worry about STI from what you say.

5. If I had syphilis that got treated by the doxycycline that I took, will a VDRL/RPR test be positive if I do one now?

Treatment of syphilis early in the course of infection can prevent tests such as RPR/VDRL from becoming positive and following treatment positive tests often become negative however this process typically takes months.  There is nothing you have stated that raises any concern about syphilis.

6. Should I see a STI expert for rx.?
I see no reason for further concern or testing.

I hope this comment is helpful to you. EWH
