M2M Unprotected Oral

Doc 16 Days ago I received only Oral sex from a guy. My wife has no idea.

No visable sores on mouth of this guy.  he was about 26 and I am 32 in Cincinnati, OH.

I am BI male.

Just looked down while urinating and saw a red rash on shaft of penis.  Could this be herpes?  Syphillis?

What else could this be in your professional opinion?  I am freaking out.  I don't want to give anything to my wife and I am wrought with fear.

Sounds like a zit, not herpes or any other STD.  Since you don't say you have seen a health care provider, I have to assume you ignored the most important advice in my original reply, that you need to see a health care provider and cannot expect to ever have clear answers from any online source, including this forum.

That ends this thread.  Take care.

Doc:

1 month after the above encounter i now have one small (1cm) firm white round bump on the back of the shaft of my penis right below the penis head.  It is firm and seems to be puss filled but from what i have read it is better not to mess with or pop.
IT has been present for 10 days now with no further symptoms, have not gotten larger or smaller

COuld this be herpes related? any other std present this way? No other symptoms have appeared and i had hoped that this was behind me.
If it is herpes could it be transferred to other parts of my genitals through masterbation?

thanks

1) You don't provide enough information about the "pink/red dots".  If they look like the start of a pimple or superficial blister-like sores, then herpes would be a good bet.  If they are simply red discoloration in the skin, herpes is unlikely.  If it's herpes, it is HSV-1; oral HSV-2 infection is rare and therefore people don't catch genital HSV-2 by receiving oral sex.

2) If it is herpes, the lesions will progress to the more inflammatory appearnces I described.

3) Not knowing what you have, I cannot recommend treatment.  But for undiagnosed conditions, the wise thing almost always is to keep the area clean and dry, with no creams or ointments of any kind, until examined by a health professional.  Such treatment might or might not help and has a high chance of obscuring the diagnosis and simply prolonging your uncertainty about it.

I'll bet if you press your primary doc's office about the urgency they will find a way to see you ("I'm afraid I might have an STD and I'm going on holiday. This really can't wait.")  Other options exist in most communites, such as Planned Parenthood, or free-standing urgent care clinics ("doc in the box").

In the meantime, I doubt you have herpes.  Although it can be acquired from oral sex, the risk from any single encounter is very low, especially if the oral partner doesn't have an obvious oral herpes outbreak.

Doc

Thanks for your quick response.  I wanted to run something by you since my primary care doc is not available until next week( and i'm going on vacation on Saturday) also the dermatologist can'tsee me until end of october which is quite frustrating.  the local std clinic is not able to see people unless they call at a certain time and it is impossible to get through the phone at that time.  I dont know where to go

I have had the following symptom for about 24 hours, feeling tired, run down and 2 pink/red spots on shaft of penis right below head.  They are not raised, seem to tingle a bit, (i'm hoping they will just go away).

1 could this be herpes? 1 or 2?
2. is there a chance that the virus will not progress past this point, and the rash will just dissipate?
3. is there anything that i should avoid like alcohol or caffeine that will agititate if it is herpes

A "red rash" of the penis could be anything.  All of the innumerable conditions that can cause rashes anywhere on the body can potentially involve the skin of the penis.  This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with your sexual encounter.  Syphilis is unlikely, though; it usually would appear as a single open sore.  If the rash has blisters, herpes might be a possibility -- but if not, herpes is unlikely.

You're never going to get clear answers by searching on line or by forums like this one. You need to see a health care provider and tell him or her the complete story.  Your primary care provider is a good choice, but if you're nervous about being up front with him or her about your sexual history, visit your local health department STD clinic.  Or a dermatologist.  Don't be tempted to treat it with over the counter creams or anything else until you have had professional advice; that could just delay the eventual diagnosis.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
