Welcome to the forum. Thanks for your question.

Your strip club partner probably believes oral sex is safe sex -- i.e. in addition to believing she has no active STDs ("telling me a thousand times she was clean"), she probably knows that oral sex carries little STD risk anyway.  And contrary to what a lot of people have come to believe, she is correct.  Oral sex isn't entirely free of STD risk, but it's a lot less risky than unprotected vaginal or anal sex.  It is low risk for all STDs and zero risk for some of them.  Here is the link to a thread that goes into a lot more detail about these facts and the reasons behind them; and as you will see, that discussion includes links to still other threads.

http://www.medhelp.org/posts/STDs/oral-sex-question/show/2159728

The bottom line is that STD testing is rarely recommended after any single episode of oral sex, unless and until typical STD symptoms show up; or, sometimes, if the oral partner is known to be infected, e.g. with syphilis or oral gonorrhea, or had a known active case of oral herpes.

As for your symptoms, they are not typical for any STD; there are no STDs that could possibly cause "burning sensation" in the thighs, groin, etc.  Your statement indicates you know the main symptoms to look for are discharge from the penis (sometimes with painful urination) and penile blisters, sores, etc.  If you have none of these within the next few days -- and for sure if none in the next 2 weeks -- you can be confident you weren't infected with herpes or any other STD.

Take a look at the other threads then let me know if there is anything not clear.  In the meantime, stay mellow.  This wasn't nearly as "stupid [an] occurrence" as you suggest.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD

Over 95% of men with urethral gonorrhea, and 90+% of people with new genital herpes (if they're going to have symptoms at all), develop symptoms within 2 weeks, usually 3-5 days for gonorrhea and 3-10 days for herpes.  Gonorrhea symptoms may be delayed longer in women, and for anyone with gonorrhea of the rectum or oral cavity; most of these infections are entirely asymptomatic.

Dr. Handsfield, may I ask you to clarify something you said?

"If you have none of these within the next few days -- and for sure if none in the next 2 weeks -- you can be confident you weren't infected with herpes or any other STD."

I was wondering if you are basing this off personal experience and/or study statistics? It seems like everywhere I read about STDs online it states that symptoms can take longer to occur (especially for HSV/gonnorhea). Is the chance of having obvious symptoms so high that after 2 weeks the chances of having an STD go down significantly?

Thanks for clarifying and also for all your helpful posts on this forum.

Oh good grief.  Do you really think every pimple or headache or sore throat the rest of your life is going to be from your entirely safe strip club adventure?  Re-read my original reply, believe it, and move on with your life.  This thread is over.

I explained why STDs are low risk and that your symptoms don't match.  Equally important, you are now seeing a doctor who obviously thought you have no STD, since sufla-trimethoprim (Bactrim) is not recommended for any STD.  Now that you are under a doctor's care, that's the proper source for further discussion of your symptoms and their possible cause.

I have no comments or advice.  This forum deals only with STDs, which you don't have.  That will end this thread.

That's what I would have expected as well.  It has nothing to do with your strip club adventure.
