Possibble to contract an infection from a partner with dirty fingernails?

Good Afternoon Doctors,
I asked a question about a week back regarding a partner with whom I engaged in oral sex after meeting at a club. I had another question/concern regarding this interaction - the morning after, I noticed there was dirt under his fingernails and he had inserted his fingers in to my vagina the night before. Is there any risk of developing an infection? His fingernails were short and he works on bicycles, so I imagine it may have been grease, but just wondering about this.
Many Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

You shouldn't be at all worried about STDs from this event.  First, fingering never transmits any infection of significance, as far as we know.  Second, visible dirt does not imply increased infection risk.  Visbibly very clean hands have just as many germs, and the same types of germs, as dirty looking ones.

So this doesn't suggest high risk for any infection.  My advice is to put it out of your mind and not worry about it.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
