Possible HSV 2/UTI or both?

Doc,

so around 20 days ago I had sex with a new partner that has HSV-II but due to the fact we were drinking, we didnt use a condom and she was having an outbreak....if only i had known....The outbreak was on her groin so i dont think there was much direct skin contact but does that matter?  SO on to symptoms...

1. I had a slight sore throat and slightly inflamed lymph nodes on one side of my neck, no fever or anything just that and it lasted for about 3 days.  But with that I had kissed a girl who fell really ill that week as well so i was wondering if that could have caused it because I know its not very typical for lymph nodes in the neck to be affected but in the groin area.  Plus I work in a casino so I am around thousands of people each week that could be ill.

2.  I know the symptoms for herpes is a tingling or burning feeling while urinating but I have it all the time and I feel like I have to urinate constantly but when I try to go its either very little, a few drops or nothing at all will come out.  The thing is when I wake up in the morning it wont burn but after my first urination it progressively gets worse throughout the day until I go to bed.  As well with that girl I kissed we did sleep together but the condom I used was very old and it was lubricated with spermicide etc.  I was wondering if that could cause this urination problem?

3.  I have diarrhea not too bad but its soft stool and is creating a lot of gas.

4.  I dont believe I have any lesions on my penis anywhere from HSV...But then again cant it look like a rash?

Thank you for your time doc

Welcome to our Forum.  I hope that I can help to address your questions.  The fact of the matter is that most exposures to sexual partners with herpes do not lead to infection and if they do, lesions typically appear at the site of contact between 4 and 10 days following the exposure.  If you have not yet had lesions or a rash at sites where you were in contact with your partner's outbreak, it is most unlikely that you caught HSV.  If lesions do appear, since the appearance of herpes lesions can be rather variable, I would suggest seeing a health care professional so that they can take a look and perform either a culture or PCR test for herpes if it is appropriate (not a blood test).

Let's now address your specific questions:
1.  If you had a herpes rash at a site of exposure you might get a sore throat along with it but from you history there have not been lesions.  Given your history of kissing a partner with a sore throat and your work exposure to so many people when the flu is virtually everywhere this is a far more likely cause of your sore throat than HSV.
2.  I wouldn't worry about this. the tingling and burning of HSV is associated with lesions and doesn't occur unless lesions are present.  On the other hand following unprotected sex you might have gotten something else- chlamydial infection or NGU in particular.  My advice would be to go get this checked at your local STD Clinic.  For such an evaluation you need a swab or urine test, preferably one take at least an hour after the last time you have urinated.
3.  Not HSV but consistent with other flu-like, non STD viral infections or even anxiety.
4.  See above, HSV can mimic other kinds of rashes. If you have a penile rash, you should have it cultured or otherwise tested.
Hope these comments are helpful.   Take care.  EWH

Sorry, there are not specific answers to your questions.  The incidence of HSV in couples in which one person has HSV and the other does not when no suppressive therapy is used is about 6% per year.  EWH

Trying to figure out what touched what in the course of sexual activity is a waste of time.  If your partner was having an outbreak, you should assume you were EXPOSED.  Exposed is not infected.  If you did not develop a rash yourself you almost certainly did not get herpes.  The sensations you have experienced could very well be a reflection of anxiety and nothing more.  Your test results ths far support his and when your repeat test results are the same, you should  then accept tis and concentrate on moving forward.  EWH

so went to see my doc...

No UTI, and the so called rash seemed to be nothing the doc did a visual exam and said there was nothing there/to worry about.  Blood tests came back neg but that was only after about 25 days so im going in for another one first week of jan (about 10-12 weeks after exposure).  Is there anything that could have caused all of the crazyness that I mentioned above? And what I was refering to about the direct skin contact is if the lesion she had was on her lower groin would the virus be in her vagina regardless or did it require me to physically touch the affected area on her groin?  I dont know what caused all of that stuff..I was taking creatine at the time or recently around that time and the doc said that dehydryation causes the lining on the urethra wall to dry up cause discomfort and burning cause i felt like I had to urinate constantly but it wasnt a UTI or anything it was all normal; and again the more water I drank the better it became so that wouldnt be concurrent with lesions in the urethra correct? Again, thank you for your time sir. Kind regards.

1.  Nothing based on data.  Logically, the more you urinate the less likely it is that whatever causes buring would be less concentrated.
2. I really don't follow this question.  My sense however is that you are over thinking this.  Direct contact means touching.

again sorry to bother you doc...

back to the numbered bullet system....

1. With the burning while urinating and not, I drank about a quart of water every hour for about ten hours and I urinated frequently...since my post the burning has either subsided or will come back with little feeling...any advice?

2.  In regards to HSV-II, it requires "Direct skin to skin contact" as in if its on her groin i'd have to rub against it with my skin or is it the viral shedding happens in her genital areas?  Because I have a slight rash on the crown of my glans penis on the right hand side but I was wondering if it was from anxiety, and the over examination of my penis (i.e. irratating the skin by constantly pulling the skin back and looking)?  Because that partner went to the doctor and there were no lesions inside of her vagina just externally....so if it requires direct contact then that part of my penis did not make contact with that area...doc please help...the anxiety is getting to me like you wouldnt believe...its affecting my everyday functions and thoughts...i have never done something this stupid (no condom) with a sex partner....thank you for your time sir. Kind regards.
