Genital itching for three weeks.

Hello dr. For the last three weeks I've been experiencing genital itching. It started on my foreskin, and it felt super itchy, and also discovered this white stuff that grew around the gland of my penis, which was cover by my foreskin. Washed the area with warm water and I applied econazole nitrate cream I had, and it eased the itchiness. However I also started developing itchy testicles, they feel itchy and burning at times. I'm not sure if its irritation but some hair follicles appear to get a big bigger and itchy in patches. Nothing really looks like sores or I still have not noticed any sores or lesions on my scrotum, except for small red bumps that jhave gone away after I apply the lotion. What could be causing white stuf around my penis gland, itchy bumps and scrotum? It's summer and I have been working under very hot circumstances, which could be my only logical explanation for this.

Again, this does not sound like HSV either.  EWH

The real reason why I was freaking out was because I though it could be herpes, but they did not turn into sore and went away after I applied the fungal cream.

Welcome to the Forum. I'll try to help but there may be more than one thing going on here.  The best and most direct way to address this is by having a doctor take a look.  What you describe however does not sound at all like an STI of any sort.

There are many potential causes of the sort of itch you describe.  When the itching is associated with white material and is under a foreskin which covers the head of the penis, a fungal infection is a strong possibility.

As for the scrotal itching an possible swelling of the hair follicles, this too could be related to fungal infection, or it could be a bacterial skin infection like folliculitis, or it could be some other dermatological process.  Again, the most direct way to determine if this is one problem or more than one is to have a doctor take a look.

I hope these comments are helpful.  EWH
