Queston about lab results

Hello,

I recently had a blood and urine test to ease my anxiety over some sexual contact with CSW's.  All instances were protected except one in which a condom slipped off for a brief minute or two.  I've never been treated for chlamydia in the past.

All blood tests came back negative except for Chlamydia anitbodies.  Here are the lab results:

Chlamydia IgG Antibody - 1.4 ISR units (this was indicated as high, as positive is > 1.10)

All the following microscopic urine tests were negative:
WBC
RBC
EPITH
HYAL CAST
GRAN CAST
RBC CAST
BACTERIA
MUCUS
CRYSTALS

I've read your responses several times about the blood test for chlamydia being useless for current infection, but as with most on this forum, I'm still worried for these reasons:

1.  I had or imagined I had some minor tickling in my penis.
2.  This doctor decided to go ahead and place me on antibiotics (one shot in the arm along with 10 days of Cephalexin and Doxycycline.  He said he was doing it for my peace of mind, but this seems strange to me.
3.  I'm married and obviously don't want to pass anything to my spouse.

You are correct about the chlamydia blood test.  Your symptoms don't change my mind about it; if you really had a sexually acquired chlamydial infection, the urine test would have been positive.  You should take your doctor's reasoning about antibiotic treatment at face value; I'm sure he indeed did it for peace of mind.  But in the unlikely possibility you in fact had gonorrhea or chlamydia missed by the urine tests, those antibiotics would have cured it effectively.  There is no evidence of STD risk to your wife.  Of course no distant online source can guarantee you aren't infected with something, if I were in your situation I would continue unprotected sex with my wife with no worries about her health.

Urine chlamydia and gonorrhea tests are available worldwide and are commonly used in Asia; I am surprised they were not done.  The urinalysis may show elevated WBC in chlamydia or gonorrhea but could be entirely normal; your result is not very useful in deciding whether you were infected.  But you had the antibiotics, so if either of these STDs was present, you have been cured.

Trying to get an answer here...sorry about the repost.

My urine test wasn't specifically a Chlamydia test (I don't think...see lab results above).  Does the urine test described reveal any info about possibly having Chlamydia?

Thanks for the reply.  My doctor seemed to indicate (I live in SE Asia, so I wasn't 100% clear with his English) that the urine tests results did not completely rule out chlamydia, but he was fairly certain that with no symptoms and with the lab results that I was clear.  Isn't there a specific test for this bacteria he could have taken?  From what I can tell, he just took white and red counts and a bacteria test?
