Red Spot on penis

Hello,

After masturbating the other day i noticed a red spot on the shaft of my penis. Not sure if it was chaffing or not but the skin was a bit sore. I already have PPP and fordyce spots but never one that has been red (most are clear). I had a male yeast infection last month as well that effected the base of my penis and scotum. Anyways i put the same anti fungal cream on the sore skin that night and work up the next day with no more soreness. How ever the red dot is still there. It appears to be the same shape as the other fordyce spots i have but just red. It is very small. painless. and not raised at all. Is this anything i need to be worried about? I have pictures as well if i can post them....

Thank you, its funny you said that because I really have been trying to not examine myself. I was not as much worried about the herpes thought as much as something else. Was not aware fordyce spots can vary in color. between ppp and fordyce spots, i have been question by girls about stds, and my doctor has told me before they are common. it mainly is just mental anguish at this time.

Welcome back to our forum.  I reviewed your earlier interaction with my friend and colleague, Dr. Handsfield and sense that you do tend to examine yourself quite closely.  As he expressed, that it not always a good idea as our bodies are covered with normal  irregularities of a variety of shapes and colors.  It certainly is not a manifestation of herpes infection.

As far as the lesion you describe, it does not bring to mind any STD of any sort and should not worry you as such. It may be a fordyce spot (colors can vary, even in the same person), be related to another cause such as the trauma of masturbation.  It does not however suggest an STD.

I hope this comment is helpful. EWH
