From what you say, it may well be that your discomfort is due to your renal stones. You should be asking your doctor this question however. EWH
dear doc,
a follow up question.
My Gram Stain report was negative. ( no gram negative bacteria found )
My uro genital culture report was also totally negative..( no bacterial growth
My ultrasound report came true positive for kidney stones.
Given the above do I still need to do a PCR test for gonorrhea and chlamydia or there is no need for it any further. Please advice.
Thanks,
S
There are numerous possible causes of "pus cells" in the urine. STIs are among them but so are urinary tract infections, prostate infections and other processes. I agree with your doctor's caution. EWH
Dear Doc,
I got my preliminary urine reports today. It indicates a possible urethral infection. ( no of pus cells in 15 )
the gram stain states- no gram negative intracellular or extracellular diplococci seen.9-10 pus cells/hpf
And the in the urine reports the following are highlighted.
leukocyte 1+
pus cells 15
mucus thread -seen
Rest all is showing normal in the also the bacteria and yeast cells is showing nil.
The doctor is waiting for culture reports to determine exact cause and refuses to say anything before.
Can you tell me with the details I provided here that there is a chance of std or its a UTI or something to do with stones seen in xray in abdomen.. Also today I didn't experience any burning while peeing.. Please I cant get my mind off it. the word pus cells makes very scared.
Please if you could help me out here.
Thanks,
s
Thaks for the clarification. That certainly makes it most unlikely that these symptoms are due to any STIU. Discussion with a GUM doctor is less important but you may still wish to talk with your regular doctor about how to best sort things out. EWH
Dear doc. I had protected sex and used condom for every act oral or penetration. Now how much should I worry. Do I still need to contact a GUM doctor ?
Welcome to our Forum. I will try to help. You do not mention whether the encounters you have had were condom protected or not. If they were condom protected the likelihood that your occasional morning burning as you start to urinate is very, very low. If they were unprotected, while the risk remains low, there is some risk. Slight burning the first time you urinate in the morning can reflect normal but could be a sign of an STI. This could also be related to the back strain or to the possible kidney stone that you mention as well. It would probably be best to discuss this with a GUM doctor to be sure. EWH
