Welcome to our Forum and my apologies for the delayed response. typically we respond within a few hours. There is little risk for any STI from receipt of analingus. First, most persons do not have STIs and even when they do, most exposures do not lead to infection. In the case of analingus, this is a particularly low risk event. Were you to get infected, the main concern would be anal gonorrhea and I would guess your risk for infection from a single exposure is far less than 1%. Personally, I would not worry and see no reason to abstain from sex because of the events you describe. If you wish to test however, rectal testing for gonorrhea is easily performed and will be accurate at this time
I hope these comments are helpful. I would not worry. EWH
You are being overly paranoid. If you do not develop signs or symptoms or infection at a sight of contact (i.e. you anus) within 14 days of your exposure, you did not get anal herpes.
Herpes, like gonorrhea is a local infection., Anal herpes does not lead to penile or throat infection.
We have limted time and space for replies. It is now time for this thread to end. no more questions please. EWH
Thanks Dr. I didn't notice a obvious sore. It was pretty dark in the room, so I can't be sure. If I don't have any symptoms in the next week or two, is it fair to assume I probably didn't catch it? Just out of curiosity, if a person has anal herpes, could that be spread via other mucous membranes? I. E. Vaginal or oral sex. I know I'm probably being overly paranoid. Thanks again!
Anal gonorrhea is a local infection which does not spread to other mucosal sites (i.e. the penis or mouth). Most anal gonorrhea is asymptomatic.
I would not worry about HSV unlessyou partner had an obvious cold sore and even then the risk for infection would be very low. EWH
Thank you so much for the reply. If I happen to be very unlucky and get anal gonorrhea, what would the symptoms be? Can this be spread via vaginal / oral sex if i was infected via the anus. Also, Are herpes a concern?
I know I'm probably fine, but still have a little anxiety. thanks!
