Hi. I had unprotected sex a week ago and about 2 days afterward, my groin lymph nodes became swollen. I have no other symptoms (discharge, odor, etc). Does anyone know if this could be unrelated? I have no insurance so if I can avoid going to the doc, I'd like to. Thanks
I had recently perform Oral sex on this girl, for less that a minute, i had a small cut, it's so small it's hard to see, on my bottom lip. her is the i do not know if i am feeling anxiety or there is HIV i picked up from this girl. Two week after i am feeling pain in me the back of my neck, and some small cramp in my leg that just last for a second and go away, also i am felling some burning sensation under my arm, that last for about 10 second my lymph node is not swollen or any thing also my muscle are so tense, i find whenever the throught come up in my head ui feel the pain. i have been sleeping to well from my encounter, its this some STD symptom or am i worrying to much it been 4 week now. appart from that i am feeling ok doc please give me your sdvice.
Thank you so much doctor, poeple like you are gods gift to mankind...your words will most definatley calm my worries..I sure will see a doctor about the hives maybe something else is wrong and i just dont know it, hopefully nothing serious...Thanks again I really appreciate your response, take care of yourself!!!!!!!
As you know, I can't make a diagnosis on line and won't try. I can't say what specific HIV tests most free clinics use, but it doesn't matter: even with the older tests, a negative result 6 weeks after exposure is just about 100% accurate. So you don't have HIV.
As to your skin rash, you have to see a health care provider. It isn't HIV and it isn't any STD. Hives and other skin rashes usually aren't dangerous, but sometimes can be a sign of something more serious. Even if mild, nobody can diagnose you without seeing you in person for an exam.

Dr, I too have been experiencing. I had protected vaginal but unprotected oral....I went to a free clinic since i dont have any kind of insurance at six weeks after possible exposure and took a HIV,syphillis, gon, & chlamydia all came back negative....Now my questions is, do free clinics use the more recent test ( in the US) or do you think i should get retested? I have been freaking out it has now been three months symptoms happened at around two months of exposure but then went away, now the only thing i do get are these hive like bumps mainly in the torso and face, usually only one hive like bump that is very small....could this be std related. What worries me is HIV...please respomd I have been trying to post this question for weeks now and I have not been able to get through....But if you r not able to i will keep trying to post.thank you kindly...
Only if red and swollen and tender to the touch.

Sorry, one follow-up question. Would sore testicles mean anything? It's mainly just the left one.
Thank you very much for your advice and your service!
Your symptoms don't sound like STD, and the time from exposure to onset is too long anyway. Whatever is causeing your symptoms almost certainly are entirely unrelated to the sexual encounter you describe. In any case you have already been tested for the common STDs. See your primary care provider if your symptoms persist, but don't worry about herpes, HIV, or other STDs.
Best wishes-- HHH, MD
