Symptoms of an STD???

First thanks for taking the time to answer my question.  The board is very informative.  I had sexual intercourse with a girl without a condom about 1 1/2 months ago.  Approximately 2-3 weeks ago I noticed a slight tingling sensation at the tip of my penis that comes and goes.  It is hard to describe, but it is like an "uncomfortable" feeling.  Additionally, and more pronounced is a sense to urinate like every hour and I don't seem to get a sense of relief from urinating.  After urination it feels like there is still more left to come out and it feels uncomfortable.  I have not noticed any discharge from my penis and have not had any fever or soreness on my body.  I have a doctor's appointment scheduled for next week but wanted to try and see what your thoughts on this were.

Thanks,

Jondavids

NGU = non-gonococcal urethritis.  Urethritis (inflammation of the penis) that is not due to gonorrhea.  it is usually an STD.

Voided = urination.  don't pee for at least an hour before you fgo to the docotor's office.  EWH

Thanks for the quick reply.  I suppose you mean not to pee when you say make sure I have not "voided" before I go to the doctor?

What exactly is NGU?  Is that an STD?  Treated the same way?  I am pretty anxious for the doctor's visit...

Welcome to our Forum.  Testing is the right thing to do.  your symptoms may or may not be due to and STD and only testing will determine this.  On one hand, your risk of an STD is rather low since most people do not have  STDs and only a fraction of exposures to infected sex partners lead to infection.  On the other hand, your symptoms could be due to an STD such as chlamydial infection or NGU in which the symptoms can be mild but are not commonly intermittent.  All things considered, it is more likely than not that you do not have an STD but checking is a good idea.  Please be sure that you have not voided for at least an hour before you go  for your evaluation and request that you be checked for gonorrhea, chlamydia and NGU (some but not all NGU is caused by chlamydia.)  the testing can be done using either a swab specimen from your penis or an initial void urine specimen in which the first part of a urine specimen is the part used for the test.

Hope these comments help. My bet is that you do not have an STD.  EWH
