Syphillis Concern

Doctor,

Need your assistant/opinion.

Between March and June of this year i visited massage parlors about 8 times to receive oral sex.  All were protected.  However about 5 of the girls used their mouth to put on the condom so some saliva must have got in contact with my penis.  Im very worried about getting STD or HIV so i am very cautious about wearing protection.

Approx 8/13 i noticed a rash on my stomach right below my ribs on the both sides, had 3 blistery rash spots on my left palm, had a couple on the side of my feet, and quite a bit on top of my hands and between my fingers.  They felt like little blisters under the skin.  I remeber having a couple every now and then between my fingers.  But the rash on my stomach made me worry after searching the net on what it could be.  I also had 2 sores on the top inside cheek of my mouth.

I visited the doctor on 8/20 since my stress was kicking in about getting an STD.  Doctor took a blood test i assum for the rash (secondary syphillis) on 8/21 and i got negative result on 8/27.  On 8/22 i  checked my penis and found a small scab on the base (i never saw before) so i looked on the internet and read secondary syphillis starts when the chancre is healing.  So now i freaked out!.

I then get tested again for syphillis and HIV at the free clinic on 8/24 and got negative results on 9/2.

Yes im married and dont want to pass anything to my wife or lose my wife.  Im done doing this stuff.

My main questions are:

1. Do both results confirm im negative?
2. Could it be possible that i tested too early?  If i recall my last protected oral sex was June 19.
3. If the rash was secondary syphillis would the results have been positive?
4. Do you recommend i do any follow up test for any STDs?
5. I also got a couple regular massages with happy endings (masterbation) at the end of the session.  Are there any STD risks for this?

Thank you for your help

This will be my last answer.  If you have more questins, you must start a new thread.  I would advice you however that your risk from the expsoure you describe is virtually zero and you need to move on.

1.  Chalmydia is not transmitted by oral sex.
2.  Yes but at this late date it is more likely the symptoms you are experiencing represent anxiety.  Your tests will be negative.
3.  Irrelavant question but yes, azithromycin woul dhave likely prevented her from getting infected if you were.

Take care.  As I said, this thread is now over.  eWH

One last question/issue (i thought my stress was from only syphillis):

Last night for about 4 hours i felt some slight on and off itchiness or irriation near my penis hole.  This itchiness was not felt during urination.  This is 3 months from my last encounter of protect oral sex on 6/12 or 6/19 (as i stated above 4 girls used their mouth to put on the condom). Because of this i got tested today for gon and chlam.  The stress is kicking in again.  Clinic did a urine test so i get my results next week Wendesday. Im fine today so i hoping the unpleasantness was from something else.  I read that oral sex normally does not transmit Chlam.  Is this true? But i also read on the internet that itchiness at the tip of the penis is a symptom of Chlam.  Is this true? I have no other symptoms.

Last time i had sex with my wife was Saturday 9/12/09.  She and two of our kids had azithromycn (Zithromax) for a sinus infection 2 weeks ago.  She started the 5 day antibiodics on 9/10/09 and finished it on 9/14/09.  So if i had cham or gon (praying i dont have either one) would the antibiodics prevent her from getting it since we had sex on 9/12/09?  Is this anitbiotic the proper one to cure gon and chlam?

My final questions:

1. Is Chlamidya rare from receiving oral sex?
2. Is itchiness near the penis hole a common symptom of Chlamidya or Gonorrhea?
3. Would the Z-pack prevent my wife from getting chlam or gon and would it have cured it if she already had it?  Again we had sex on the 3rd day of her 5 day Z-pack.  Would i need to tell her she requires testing if i have chlam or gon?

Im killing myself with stress of the consequences (yep should have thought about this before doing this naughty stuff).  Im praying i dont have chlam or gon.

Thanks in advance for your final response.

Yes, a negative syphilis test at 6 weeks would be conclusive.  EWH

I was just curious about the gonorrhea and chlamydia going away on its own since some have no symptoms.

So Syphills testing at 6 weeks is like HIV at 3 months?  Test are conclusive?

I have nothing more to say about your syphilis risk- you did not get syphilis from the exposure you describe.  Your scab could have been from the trauma of masturbation or something else- it was not syphilis.

When we find gonorrhea we treat it.  Thus there are no studies of how long it takes to go away on its own. If you are worried about gonorrhea (and there is no reason to be from theexposure you describe), get tested, don't try to wait it out.  EWH

I got a couple follow up questions.

You mention syphillis cannot be spread by saliva, only direct skin contact.  The scab was found on the top, very base of my penis so this part was not covered by the condom.  So my base could have got in contact with her mouth/teeth.

Im still a little worried since symptoms i had (found healing scab on shaft of penis when rash was found on body) were accurate to syphillis.  I dont think i ever had a scab on my penis before.

You mention testing after 6 weeks proves im negative.  Is this 6 weeks proven similar to HIV testing at 3 months?  Im just scared and want to move on and not worry about giving anything to my wife.

Last question: Does gonnorrhea and chlamydia go away on its own without treatment?  If so how long does it take?

Thank you.

Yes your answers were very helpful to ease my stress.  I was just killing myself with stress after finding the sore/scab on my penis after  the rash.  Plus searching the internet about syphillis indicated the rash comes out when the chancre is healing.  So i was stressing out big time.

Now i am thinking i may have got tested to early or the test results were wrong.

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the Forum.  I cannot say what the rash or rashes you describe are due to but there is no reason for you to worry about syphilis.  Here are the reasons.  Syphilis is transmitted by direct contact, not saliva.  Thus if there was no direct contact during these exposures, there is no risk of syphilis. In addition, while the rash of secondary syphilis can take many appearances, the blood tests for syphilis are uniformly positive during this stage.  Thus your negative blood tests, collected at the time at or after the rash was positive and more than 6 weeks following your last exposure confirm that you do not have syphilis.

In answer to your specific questions:

1.  Yes
2.  No, your timing was fine
3.  Yes
4.  No, no need for testing after the exposures you describe and certainly no need for further testing
5.  No, no risk from receipt of masturbation

Hope these answers are helpful to you.  You are in the clear.  EWH

Sorry i would like to correct the dates above.

I visited my doctor on 8/6 and got a blood test on 8/7.  On 8/8 i found the scab on the base of my penis.  I got tested by the free clinic on 8/10 and got the negative result on 8/19.

Sorry for the screw up.

Thanks
