UTI or more?

Hi,
I have had urinary pain since the end of Jan when I started having sex with my boyfriend (who is clean). My ex was never tested before but gave blood reg (although that has nothing to do w bacterial infections). The pain started after I had sex with the one that was tested and I was given Cipro (sometimes I took it once a day and sometimes twice), Bactrim (again taken inconsistently like the Cipro), and now I am almost finished with Levaquin (taken faithfully). I had really bad urinary pain and they said I do not have bacteria in my urine (which is prob masked) and asked about STDs. I have a yeast infection from the antibiotics and am taking antifungal meds now and feel a little better. My question is if my ex did have something (which i'm still certain he didn't) would all of those antibiotics have killed whatever was in my body?

There is simply no way to answer your question because there is not enough information.  You do not know that you have an STD, nor do you know if your prior BF had an STD. The first thing is to find out what is going on, then you can begin to deal withthe "what if"s.  EWH

Last question (promise!) but I do have 1000 mg of Azythromyicin in my cabinet. I know that it is not good to self diagnose but can I take the Azythromyicin once the yeast infection is gone? I'm just so sick of this burning that I will do anything. Tired of being shuffled from doctor to doctor for months.

Ok, thanks. Statistically though and considering that the pain occurred after I had sex with my current boyfriend who has papers to prove he's clean. Would the pain have been caused by an STD I previously had from my ex with whom I'v only slept with a handful of times. I was tested and clean before my ex. I will still get tested once I am finished with the antibiotics.

Welcome to the Forum.  Sometimes well intended efforts to help with antibiotics confuse things.  It sounds to me as though your doctors have focused on the possibility of a urinary tract infection which is a logical thing to have considered but there are other possibilities as well .  As you point out, you now have a yeast infection relate to the antibiotics and this could have "taken the place" of whatever started your difficulties.  furthermore, within the world of STDs, cipro is not reliable therapy for gonorrhea or chlamydial infections and levofloxacin, a related antibiotic may not be curative for gonorrhea as well.

I cannot make a diagnosis over the internet and would not try however, if you were my patient and still having problems, I would start again at the beginning and thoroughly re-evaluate you AFTER you had been off of antibiotics for at least 4-5 days.  At that time in addition to a thorough history, I would also test for yeast,  trichamonas, gonorrhea an chlamydial infection as well as signs of a urinary tract infection.

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH
