Ok thanks for your quick reply!
A standard throat cullture would not test for gonorrhea or chlmydia. You would have to ask specifically for this test. EWH
Doctor, I had a throat culture done yesterday. Could not be seen during the holidays. My doctor said it's gonna take three days or so to get the results.
However. He didn't say exactly what the tests were for.
Do you know if these type of cultures will show any throat stds such as gonorrhea or chlamydia?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Thank you very much for your reply. I Agee that I feel extremely guilty and I will never do it again. I will go to a planned parenthood facility on Monday and get culture tests done to my throat as you suggested and will look into counseling to get over my guilt.
Thank you again and I appreciate this service that you provide
Welcome to the Forum and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In preparing to address your questions, I reviewed your earlier interactions on the STD and HIV Prevention Community sites. I agree with all that the folks on those sites have said and this reply will, in large part serve to confirm and perhaps provide some factual background related to your concerns.
I note that earlier you also acknowledged that this was your first encounter with an escort outside of your marriage and that you were feeling guilty about this. Sometimes after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital or, in your case, oral sensations than in periods when they are not concerned. This in turns leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times. I suspect this was a contributor to your situation.
Although your doctor stated there was some risk for STDs related to this exposure, the risk is rather low. The reasons for this include that most escorts do not have STDs (fact!) and that oral sex,(giving or receiving) is a very inefficient way for get STDs (including HIV). I note that you started to experience some problems almost the day or two after your exposure. this is not consistent with STD - most STDs take 3-4 days for symptoms to occur. Similarly, I note that the sores in your mouth appear to have been continuing for some time- this too is not consistent with HSV (a concern I saw raised) which typically has its onset in 4-10 days following exposure and then runs its course of two or, rarely, even 3 weeks as a first episode., Your mouth sores have come and gone, something that is far more consistent with canker sores than anything else- that I physician has examined you and stated that your lesions do not suggest HSV supports this impression.
Your "lumps", sore throat and the white coating on your tongue are likewise unlikely to be due to STD. I think it is a good idea for you to get tested (with culture tests from the throat, NOT blood tests) so that you can prove to yourself that you did not get anything through your misstep. At that time you will need to work through your guilt. Perhaps a counselor would be of assistance in this. Counseling is widely available at lots of locations and its typically confidential.
Hope this helps. I really think you have little to worry about other than working through your guilt.. EWH
p.s. HIV. The quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex. Neither of us on this site have ever seen or reading the medical literature of a convincing instance in which HIV was passed by oral sex. I would urge you not to worry about this either. EWH
I forgot to mention that I've had loose stool the past two weeks. It goes away after I take Gas-X but after I stop taking Gas-X it comes back.
Please advise, any help will be greatly appreciated!
