The absence of discharge is a good signs and makes it still more unlikely that you have an STD.
Symptoms which come and go are rarely due to STD and mre often a reflection of the attendtion paid to the area in question. EWH
Welcome to the Forum. Before I answer your question let me point out that your partial self-medication will hinder evaluation since this is partial therapy for some infections which may or may not be effective but can obscure test results without really curing the underlying disease. thus there will be several questions which I cannot answer with as great a precision as I could if you had not self medicated.
Following receipt of oral sex you are at risk for gonorrhea or non-chlamydial NGU. Chlamydia is effectively not present in the throat and thus there is no risk for chlamydia from your exposure. Gonorrhea is more likely to be symptomatic than non-chlamydial NGU but either could typically become symptomatic as early as two days although 3-4 days would be more typical. On the other hand, anxiety can also mimic these subtle early symptoms of gonorrhea as well.
My advice. Wait until at least 5-7 days since your last ciprofloxacin, then go get tested for gonorrhea and NGU. NGU is diagnosed based on detection of increased numbers of white blood cells shown on either the first bit of urine in a urine specimen (not from mid-stream) or from a swab taken from the penis. A test for gonorrhea can also be done from either of the specimens I suggest. Depending on that your health care provider should be able to make decisions and recommendations regarding treatment. If these tests are negative, you do not need treatment.
Hope this is helpful to you. EWH
Thanks...but I am not at risk of chlamydia from oral sex, right?
Omnicef has not been studied for treating sTDs. If enough is taken it is likely to cure gonorrhea but it would not be expected to be effective for chlamydia or NGU. EWH
This will be my last question I promise. I went to a regular walk in urgent care today and told them of my symptoms. I gave a urine sample but will not have the results for a couple of days. The doctor was not real knowable about STDs. He gave me omnicef to take. Will omnicef cure the potential infection? I dropped the prescription off at the Rx and can't remember the directions or mg but will the omnicef work?
STD symptoms occasionally get better on there on but not as quickly or as soon as yours have. I think it is unlikely that you have an STD. I see no reason to go to an ER. EWH
Last question I hope: I've been trying to get tested all week but my Doctor is out of town and I live in a rural area and the closest clinic is 60 miles away. The itching in my urethra persisted through yesterday but is much better today. I still have no discharge but I'm convinced that the itching/irritation I experienced on Tuesday and Wednesday was real. If I has an STD would the symptoms improve without treatment? I probably won't be able to get tested until Monday unless I go to an ER. Thanks for your help.
Also why did the symptoms go away for a few days and return?
Thank you sir, I will have to get tested. Is the fact that there is no discharge significant? I was hoping that was an indicator that I do not have it.
