Std/ HIV

Three weeks ago I had sex with a stripper at a "high end" strip club. What i mean by "high end" is that the strippers at this club charge outrageous prices for there services. She said that she was 20 years old and that she had been stripping for only a year. Anyways, we went across the street from the club to a hotel I was staying at and we had sex. I gave her oral sex for maybe 10-15 minutes. She gave me oral for about the same amount of time but I had a latex condom on the whole time. The oral that i performed on her was UNprotected. We then started to have vaginal sex. The condom that we were using was one that she provided and I didnt like the way it felt so i took it off and put one on that i had in my wallet ( lambskin). Well i did not know at the time that lambskin condoms do not protect against stds. After i put the lambskin condom on I ejaculated after about 2 minutes of penetration. Immediately after I went to the shower and washed my genitals with soap and hot water. 14 days after this incident i got tested by stdtestexpress.com.  They sent me to Quest labs for a full panel of tests including a pcr rna test for hiv.  5 days later all tests came back Negative. I have a wife that i have not had sex with for three weeks as of today and i think sheis getting suspicious. I totally regret what i did and i refuse to put her at risk of contracting anything from me. By the way, I have no symptoms whatsover that I have noticed. Is it ok to have sex with my wife now with no risk to her? Or should i undergo more testing first? I was tested for herpes ( both types), chlamydia, syphilys, hep b, hep c, gonnareha, and hiv ( pcr rna test). Thanks for any help you can provide.

My response to you was not based soley on your test results.  With herpes for instance, most people do not have HSV, your only unprotected contact was oral sex, you have not developed symptoms (which typically occur within 2 weeks of exposure) and you have negative tests.  In fact, we do not routinely recommend blood tests for HSV.

Further,, please remember, the recommendations you read at the testing site are made by those who profit from your testing.  This is not to disparage the testing site or their tests, just to point out that their conservatism regarding testing is not without benefit for them.

No change in my recommendations.  I would not be worried.  EWH

Thank you for your generous welcome and quick response to my question.
Well I've been doing alot of reading online and I know that there are specific recommended times for each std to be tested. I had my tests administered 2 weeks after the encounter. For example, some sites said that HSV-1 and HSV-2 cannot be detected for 3 to 6 weeks and that sometimes symptoms are not present. These were not posts by an M.D. such as yourself and there were not specific to my situation, so I really dont know how accurate they are. I am honestly just terrified of passing on something on to my wife. I understand that nothing is 100%, i just want to make sure I at least cover all my bases. But i also i know i cant go much longer without having sex with my wife, without causing some serious problems.

Welcome to our Forum.  Most commercial sex workers do not have STDs and most exposures to infected partners do not result in infection.  Also,  the risk of infection from giving or receiving oral sex is relatively low, lamb skin condoms, while not as good as latex condoms, do reduce risk for infection and you have no symptoms.  Further, you have negative tests.  All things considered you can be confident that you were not infected.  If I were you, I would not worry and see no reason for further testing.

I hope this comment is helpful to you.  EWH
