Thanks for the clarification. Please see my answers above regarding Trichomonas. This is not an infection acquired through receipt of oral sex. EWH
Sorry I made a mistake.
I am positive for Trichomonas vaginalis.
Chlamydia and Gonorhea negative.
I am a little confused because I did use a protection for vaginal contact.
Your results are confusing. You tested twice, the first test was negative, the second was positive for something- were you tested for the same organisms both times? The tests you describe should have been positive both times if the same test was done. You did not test too early.
In addition, was your test positive for Trichomonas vaginalis or Mycoplasma genitalium? These are different organisms and you have parts of the names of both organisms in your statement above.
In answer to your specific questions:
1. Can you get Trichomonas from Oral sex?
No, trichomonas does not appear to be transmitted by oral sex.
2. How long can it be dormant? with no symptoms?
It is clear that trich can be present for long times in both women and men for long periods without symptoms.
3. Is it only acquired from vaginal sex?
Typically, yes.
4. if yes, Could I possible got it from my wife?
Yes. She should be tested and treated. New tests for trich which have only recently become available are detecting lots of infections in women who did not know they were infected.
5. Can you get trichomonas, other than sex?
There are a very few cases in which trich has been transmitted through the use of sex toys but these are the exceptions. Nearly all trich is transmitted through direct sexual contact.

Thank you for your quick response.
I got tested positive for Trichomonas genitalium by a NAA test.
Came back Positive Abnormal.
all of my symptoms are gone, with just an inflammation at the tip of my urethra. I have stopped having any sex with my wife since the first symptoms.
I have couple of questions.
1. Can you get Trichomonas from Oral sex?
2. How long can it be dormant? with no symptoms?
3. Is it only acquired from vaginal sex?
4. if yes, Could I possible got it from my wife?
5. Can you get trichomonas, other than sex?
thank you in advance

Welcome to the Forum. I will try to help. It is time to stop testing. The results are not going to change. Most STIs would have become obvious by this time and if they were, the tests that you have taken would have been positive. There are two likely explanations for your symptoms. Both may contributing to your experience. First. let me remind you that most persons do not have STIs and most STIs are not efficiently transmitted through oral sex (condom protected sex is safe sex). On the other hand, we have found that when persons are worried about the possibility of STIs, they tend to do two things which can lead to recognition of possible "symptoms" which are not. First, increased attention and focus on STIs leads to persons becoming aware of normal sensations that they otherwise tend to overlook. Further anxiety and worry often lead to increased frequency of urination. Second, many of our clients who are worried about STIs sometimes tend to repeatedly examine themselves for signs of STIs. This sort of self-examination can in itself cause irritation, particularly of the urethra.
I hope these comments are helpful to you. I urge you to believe your tests and not worry further about STIs acquired from the low risk exposure you have mentioned. EWH
