Burning skin and muscle twitches are classic symptoms of anxiety. I know you stated you had these symptoms before you became anxious about them. But judging by your concerns and responses to Dr. Hook, I'm guessing you tend to be anxious in general and were probably anxious about this event long before you consciously realized it. My suggestion, not that you asked, is to consider counseling. If nothing else, you're feeling anxious now--counseling can help you learn to manage those feelings.
Thanks for the answer (sort of) . I seriously doubt the burning skin and twitching is from being anxious because they started long before I was nervous about anything. I am quite sure that it is related to my encounter and that the medical community (or you ) just haven't caught up yet, which is very unfortunate. I have never had any symptoms like this before and the timing is too close to be due to something else. I am sorry for my long orignal post but it was not over 2000 characters your site makes sure of that, so I was well within the rules
Before I even consider reading your question, a couple of comments. This is not the site for HIV questions. I will briefly comment on your concerns but will not address them in detail. In addition, you have far exceeded our word limit in your post. the reason for this rule is two-fold. First, if your question is so complex it cannot be made in the alltted space, it is too complex to address on this site. Second, it takes up too much time and does not allow for others to have their questions addressed.
This answer will be brief and to the point.
1. You do not have HIV. forget about it. Your genital exposure was protected and peole do not get HIV form oral sex, even if their partners have HIV which is unlikely in your case. The HIV specialist you saw was being conservative. There really is no reason for further HIV testing accept to relieve your own anxiety.
2. Your herpes tests show that you DO NOT have HSV-1, the virus that causes cold sores.
3. Your HSV-2 test is in the low positive range where about 80% of “positive” results are actually false positive. Mono can cause a false positive. you can repeat the test, if it is negative, believe it. If it is positive, get tested with either a Biokit or Western blot to prove that it is a false positive. If either of these tests are negative, you do not have HSV-2.
4. the chance of the sore you had in the back of your mouth being HSV-2 are close to zero. Too long after exposure and the wrong place.
5. The muscle twitching and neck discomfort that you are experiencing are not an STD, including HIV. These infections do not cause muscle twitching or the abnormal sensations you describe. Anxiety however can and my sense is that you are anxious about this.
Hope this helps. EWH
Just clarify, my HSV-1 test result was < 0.91 and when I say my Primary doctor said I was infected with the virus that causes cold sores, I know he probably was confused between HSV1 and HSV2. Since my HSV2 result was low ..I'm guessing I may need to get tested again.. What really concerns me is my muscle twitching and buring sensation in my neck which seems to have moved to the side of my neck under my left ear.....
I am sorry to ask about HIV on this forum .. I thought all STD's were covered on this forum. Thanks again for taking the time to answer all of our questions.
I hope you are compensated !!!
