Worried about a one time sexual encounter

I had an alcohol induced one time sexual encounter with a sex worker 1 yr and 5 months ago. She performed fallatio on me and I had intercourse with her for about two minutes without orgasm, all without protection. I had an std test 5 days after the encounter and the results came back negative. I now know that I did not give enough time for antibodies to develop. I got tested again yesterday after noticing a slight burning sensation during urination. White blood cell count came back normal and I will be getting the results back for hiv and/or herpes in 5 days. No other risky sexual encounters since then. I have been in a monogomous relationship since that time and both myself and my girlfriend have noticed that during heated foreplay I almost always have a small amount of clear sticky discharge shortly before orgasm. This is the only time discharge occurs. I read that discharge NEVER comes before orgasm if a person is negative. Does this mean the discharge is std related, or is it normal to have a discharge of seminal fluid right before orgasm? What are the odds that I contracted hiv and/or herpes from this one time encounter? I'm really freaking out about what the results may be, even more so for my girlfriends sake than mine. I thought this was all behind me before being educated about the window period. Your answers to these two questions will be greatly appreciated.

What are the chances of a women getting herpes or HIV if a guy had his penis inside of her for about 30 seconds to possibly a minute? He had not been stimulated very much before hand, and wasn't anywhere close to coming. But I had a good amount of vaginal discharge when this occured. Also, how long after the encounter do you need to wait before you can get an aids test and herpes test? ( and them both be very accurate) Thanks!

Thanks man that is reassuring. Ive read so much **** online and its kind of confusing. some say that it is impossible for HIV to show up on an oraquick antibody test unless 12 weeks have gone by. My girlfriend had all types of blood tests done. I hear those are more accurate.

I had intercourse with a woman one time on 12/11/05. I found out afterwards that she has had a large amount of sexual partners in the past. I got tested on 2/6/06 with an antibody test for HIV because I felt worn down for a couple days afterwards with a possible low grade fever and i had a cold sore that went away in a week in january of 2006. My girlfriend was tested and found out she has HSV 1. I am really scared of HIV. I have not really shown any symptoms of anything since then but I am really scared of HIV. I almost had a panic attack waiting for my results after 8 weeks. Should I be scared?

The odds are probably greater than 95% that the test would have shown positive at 8 weeks if you actually had it, (I assume the sex was unprotected). The odds are very low that you have it, even if she actually had HIV.

Thanks Will. I'm assuming the 1 in 2000 chance pertains to HIV. That makes me feel a whole lot better. What are the chances in regards to herpes?

I think I just posted the above the same time you were typing. It should be about 1 in 2000 chance for a man getting it from a positive female from vaginal sex (CDC estimate). Cofactors influence that estimate.

Thank you for the response. There was one other part to my question that was not addressed. I had unprotected intercourse, without ejacualtion, for approximately 2 minutes with the sex worker. Just to further specify that part of my previous question, what I want to know is what percentage chance is there of a male acquiring hiv from a one time encounter with an infected female, when unprotected intercourse takes place? Also, in this scenario what are the chances of acquiring herpes?
As I mentioned in my original question, I had an std test 5 days after the encounter, but I'm assuming the negative results meant nothing since it always(?) takes weeks for herpes and hiv to show up positive. Thank you for your attention to this grave concern.

Well, he also indicated he had unprotected sex with this person but it is still low risk for a single exposure. Your upcoming test should be negative for HIV. Window period is long gone.

Yeah that is for HIV. I don't know about Herpes, it's not my cup of tea.

Thanks very much for the response. That alleviates one of my two concerns. I have been checking this web site incessantly today to find the answer to both questions posted. anybody that has insight regarding my second question would also be appreciated. Thanks again for the comment...I'm eager to get the test results back regarding hiv and herpes so that i can hopefully put this encounter behind me for good. It has been a source of anxiety for much too long.

Relax my friend. Anything that could have given you a discharge would be long gone by now. Your negative tests prove you never had anything in the first place. 5 days is enough time to test for chlamydia and gonnorea. if wouldn't hurt to test for herpes, not because of the encounter, but just because if you have never done it, you should. A discharge during sexual activity is called precum. Every guy has it and it is normal. It is part of a erection and getting sexually excited. You do not have an std.

Receiving oral sex is extremely safe and the chance of HIV/STD transmission extremely low.  Further, most men with urethral or penile infections get noticeable symtpoms.  Any bacterial STD you might have contracted 5 years ago would have cleared up by now.  Nobody has ever been proved to catch HIV by receiving oral sex.  Herpes due to type 1 herpes simplex virus (HSV-1) is a theoretical possibility, but you'll never know and it doesn't matter. (If you don't understand why, search the forum for other threads using search terms "HSV-1" and "genital HSV-1".)

Secretion of fluid from the penis (pre-ejaculate fluid, pre-***) is normal during sexual arousal; it happens to everybody.

If despite this reassurance you remain nervous, have an HIV test.  Assuming you have no other exposures or risks, it will be negative.

I don't know what education about "window period" made you nervous now, 5 years later.  The window period from infection to positive HIV test is 4-6 weeks.
